| Savox SB-2290SG
I ordered this servo the day I heard about it and it showed up yesterday from Canada. I paid just over $155 usd to my door from pro-rc.ca. I've had hit and miss luck with savox in the past with their "value" high torque plastic servos but great luck with their higher priced and nicer built alloy cased units so I figured I'd roll the dice. This servo is advertised as having 694 oz of torque at 7.4 volts and I believe every ounce of that. I've ran the gamut of servos from cheap to stupid high dollar and I'll say without a doubt that this servo has more power, self centering ability and overall badassedness than any servo I've used to date in my 20+ years of playing with toy cars. I purposely wedged my front axle into crevasses today and giggled like a school girl as the back end of my rig slid side to side as I turned the wheel. I rolled many times with many hard hits and the servo didn't seem to give a rip. It has the typical savox chatter although it's not as pronounced as many savox servos I've used before. The servo is really a standard size unit which is very nice to mount on a dlux link/servo mount. Every other servo I've used that is advertised over 500 oz has been much larger in at least one dimension on either side of the servo ears so this will fit nicely in more chassis easier than anything I'm aware of in its class. Time will tell if this Savox will stand up to my stupidity or not but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll update this thread if I have any problems. Edit: Here it is next to a promodler 420 version #4 You can see it is not only shorter from the ears down to avoid hanging up under the axle but it is shorter up top too so it keeps the servo horn down low too. | Re: Savox SB-2290SG Generic axial based crawler with a few shiny bits here & there. 6" jconcept ruptures, lots of weight on the front axle in the form of tungsten and brass, running brood power on 4s. The heavy front end eats up a lot of torque so seeing this servo whip the tires around says something for sure. |

Why not just add this to the current thread about this servo? |

| Re: Savox SB-2290SG I started to but I figured you started it then received your servo and we didn't hear a peep from you since so I took that as your abandoning of the subject. Hell you've had the servo like a week and all you've done is post a picture. |

Well, good to see it appears to work as advertised. Your Canadian supplier is now out of stock. (At least they were last night when I checked) For years I've been boo'ed for using Savox. "Gotta run Hitec" they yapped. I've been using the 1283SG (alum case) in several trucks for a number of years and they haven't let me down once. XR10, Shafty, Wraith and two Class 2 trucks (and soon two in a class 3) all run the 1283, so if the 2290 keeps on keepin' on, it'll be a worthy upgrade. |

I've always had great luck with the 100. Savox servos, albeit noisy , power hogs.same with Hitech 100. Then the ProModeler at 80. This one wins both price and power Hang up and Drive |

I'm a Savox fan so t'll be interesting to see how this servo holds up. I'm also interested to see how the Pro Modeler holds up. Hitec sucks! I might give them another try, but they have not been good to me in the past. |

While savox is a power hungry servo, this new servo cant be any worse then the bluebird h50b. I was pulling almost 4 amps just turning lock to lock on flat rock. Cant imagine what it would pull under a heavy bind. |

Put another hour on the servo today. It was enough time to get the servo good and warm but it never got hot. The bluebird h50c would get downright hot doing the same obstacles. While I was out I had a visitor come and say hi. If you can't see it there is a lizard on the other side of my rig by the sage brush. I rolled repeatedly off the top of the area a couple times I cartwheeled about 25' and the servo didn't break so I'm stoked. |

I'm stocking up for a few builds coming in the near future. Not sure what it's going in yet. I might stick it in my Bomber and save my protek for my track stuff.

This is a lot of servo for a bomber. My go fast stuff doesn't get my good servos, they get lower torque units since they aren't crawling and getting wedged.

Yes it is. I have always been a fan of overkill. I have a couple UCFAB PRT's in the works. Maybe I'll save it for one of those.
