Default Hobbywing 1060 has no failsafe?!

As the title says, just saying it out loud because I haven't heard it mentioned before.

The Hobbywing 1060 esc does not have a failsafe built in.

If you accidentally bump the power switch on your Tx, your rig will go full throttle.

If you're really unlucky, it'll shoot itself off course and into a 40' deep rock gully.

If you're lucky you'll escape with only a stripped servo horn.

Is anyone aware of a way to add a failsafe to an ESC? I know they're used routinely in the nitro world but I think they all depend a servo actuated throttle..

My Futaba 4PLS and receivers control the failsafe mode.

My flysky has no fail safe either no matter what esc is attached to it. First time I learned that was when I turned on my bouncer running a big 1/8 scale 2350 on 4s. Turned it on and away it went jumping off the table.

my flysky recievers all have a fail safe on them...turn on the tx, then the rig, depress a little black button on the rx next to the led while the tx is in neutral...after a couple seconds the rx led flashes and its set.

its the RX that has the fail safe....not the ESC

Mine doesn't run away. In the manual it states you should use the F/S of your radio.

the Flysky FS-GR3E is what I run

you can see the hole by the LED, there is a push button switch in there...new ones come with the bind plug and plastic stick to depress the button switch

I have a bunch of FS-GR3C, FS-R6B, FS-A3 and a couple ar3 axial receivers and they all run away unless the radio is on. Guess I have the wrong ones.

Edit:

My FS-GR3C looks identical to your E. I've never pushed that button since initial setup. That would be a big pain in the dick to push that button with a stick every time I ran a rig.

the axial rx's have the same feature on them...look next to the #1 slot on them and you should see the hole...

Yeah you have to hit that little button with a paperclip or something to set the failsafe. That's how I set mine after a small runaway out of my hands with the Wraith.

Interesting!

Does that button to be triggered every time you use that rig or is it just once to set it and then it says set?

I'm using HK Rx's that are virtually identical to the FS one pictured. I've seen that little hole, just never looked closely at it. I'll be checking into that as soon as I get home from work tonight though!

nope, once and done unless you re-bind it, or move it to a different TX,then you might have to set it again

its a once and done deal, not every time you run the rig...unless you re-bind it or change TX's

Glad I brought it up, otherwise I'd never have known this!

So for reference, this is the process:

>Turn on everything like usual.
>Make sure ESC is currently on and in neutral.
>Press and hold failsafe button on Flysky Rx for about 2-3 seconds, the red led will blink and then stop.
>Turn everything off and test failsafe by turning off the transmitter.

You don't have to set the failsafe every time you run, just this once.

Spektrums set failsafe when you bind the Rx as well. So don't go calibrating your esc with the bind plug in, lol.

Wow, I can't believe what a simple little thing that was and what a hugely important thing it is.

Tried this out on my 10.2 last night and just like allanon1965 and Sneetches have explained, I now have a fail safe on that rig.

One thing that's probably worth mentioning - I'm using the HK branded Rx's and the button is there, but it isn't labelled like it is in the picture of the Flysky Rx.

Now I just need to find time to check the other 4 vehicles that use these Rx's..

Thanks again gang!!!
