Default Motor cuts out when steering

New to the forum, need some help from the more experienced.

This a yeti with stock everything except chassis components. Running 2s.

My problem is simply that when I actuate the steering in either direction, the power to the motor cuts significantly or all together.

Motor seems to have good power when I am not steering.

The steering actuates smooth and well with no binding that I can see.

This is not dependent on temperature or pack charge. Tried new batteries in the radio just in case. Also pulled the motor apart, bearings and internally looked good.

Is there anything I can test before I start buying parts randomly?

Unless your servo is good for 2s and you can power it directly you'll need an external bec. Hit hobbytown and pick up a castle unit and I'll program it for you.

You still have my number? We're in kennewick now and my garage is dedicated to RC now.

Welcome to the forum.

You missed the sticky at the very top of this section in which you created this thread. You probably need a BEC. See here: Electronic Problems? You probably need an External BEC

Actually I do still have your number. For what they cost I guess I may as well give it a try. I appreciate the offer, definitely new to RC electronics.

I am suprised that I am just now having issues though... I mean I have been running this thing for 1.5 years now, and one day I need a BEC?

If the bec in the esc starts going g bad you'll have this issue. Same as if the motor in the servo starts to go bad. I've gone to using servos with brushless motors so they don't wear out before I break them.

I have parts on hand to swap around to troubleshoot and pinpoint the problem.

I'll be around all week or if you're bored I'll be home tonight too. You still have the 3830 number right? Can't remember if I had it when I lived in richland or not.

Edit:

This is the one you need.

Pick up a pair of just connectors like this too.

Hobbytown will have it all on the shelf.

Update. Went to LHS and they were out of stock on the castle BECs. I bought a Savox SC-1267tg servo and switched it out for the stock tactic tsx45 servo. My thought was to direct wire the Savox to the battery (it is a high voltage unit). Before making any wiring changes I plugged the servo in and tested- no issues.

Still going to wire the servo direct to the battery so I can get the full torque available, but I used the stock servo to install a 2 speed trans I got for xmas, so it worked out.

You poor bastard, you really need to come over and get hooked on crawlers so you can become a literal poor bastard.

Tenth scale is tenth the price... Or at least I tell myself that.

I'll have the crawler out Friday and over the weekend if the weather holds. You're more than welcome to drive it or my 2nd rig if I get it ironed out.
