Default Running an LED kit on external battery

I've used many of these or similar setups where you just plug it into your receiver. But what would I need to do to run it off of a separate battery pack (besides changing the plug). Will something go up in smoke if I just plug a battery directly to the LED controller? Thanks.

Read the instructions, it will have most of the info you are looking for.

Operating voltage: 4.8v-6.0v

You would still need to connect the signal wires if you want more functionality then just lit, IE turns and reverse.

And yes if you feed it to many volts it will go up in smoke.

Looking into doing something similar. Wanting to run a whole litany of leds on a separate circuit. Looking at using a kit from My Trick RC.

PM Heyok, Tell him what you need, and "POOF" its at your door! It's magical, how he can change a little $ in to your lighting needs.

oh yeah, stock receiver power is 4.8 to 6.0 volts, anything more will leak the magic smoke out.
