Default Hardly any reverse speed or power

I just got done switching electronics (ESC) between my SCX10 and Ascender. Bunch of misc wiring changes. Went trail riding with my son yesterday. I didn't have enough reverse to do any trail riding. Speed and power seemed fine in fwd.

Not sure what to look at first. I'm running a hacked Flysky GT3B, Castle Sidewinder 3 and RC4WD 45 turn. Ive never did the manual programming of the esc. Is it hard. Sound like esc or a possible change in radio settings?

I did add a CC BEC and forgot to disconnect the red lead that it says. Also, it will reverse on level ground with no load, but on the trail will not move the truck.

I'm having the same problem with a 6x6,at first it works no problem but after a while my esc gets hot and then no reverse and eventually no forward and the esc is hot as hell "ESC is new" .If a turn it off for like a min it all comes back till it get hot again...I'm assuming the esc for me getting to hot.the motor i'm using is like 5 years old Kyosho 360 lemans could be the motor.but to be honest i think mine might be a ESC problem
I'm waiting on a new esc and motor see if that will help...
Another thing the 6x6 is 11 Lb so that probably does help either...

found this if it helps..
Max. Recommended Vehicle Weight: Depends on motor selection, no more than 5lbs for higher kv motors.

Sounds like an ESC setting. I highly suggest buying a castle link... Some of the more expensive ESCs come with a coupon for a free one.(mmp, MMx, etc)

Reverse speed is set to 50% by default too.

Did you calibrate esc to radio ? Check your brake/reverse expo ?

Back feeding higher voltage in to the esc's bec can cause damage. The esc uses its internal bec to regulate voltage for it's own electronics as well.

Definitely recalibrate and check end points, reverse power is set at 50% usually, that's more than enough to throw the truck around.

I'm a newbie and don't know what the settings should be for trail rig. I'll look into thru castle link. I usually go to hobby shop and have them program it.

So is that why I need to remove the red wire? what should throttle endpoints be? 100%

I'll look into this, but no I just swapped esc's. Didn't do any calibrations. Each truck has the radio they started with.

Throttle and brake EPA at 100. Throttle centered at 0, recalibrate the esc. Seems to clear up a lot of issues.

If the esc had been damaged by the bec I don't think it would only effect reverse speed.

Fwiw, I'm running the RC4WD esc in my Beast 2 and reverse is nearly useless. EPA is at 100 (though stock on my radio is 120) and throttle is centred at 0. The thing is, the RC4WD esc doesn't seem to have any adjustment option. There's no button on it, no hint of being able to program it. No drag brake either. It didn't get too hot while running and all looks normal so it seems having 20% throttle in reverse is all it has. It's a fairly awful esc by all accounts. It's going to be replaced with an AE-5 pretty soon, I think.

Getting frustrated. Hate this flysky. Anyone have suggestions on what settings it should be to start? right now I have no throttle.

Did you calibrate the esc to the radio?

IE: hold full throttle, turn on, etc

Yes after I did the basic cal, now I'm in programming mode but stuck because reverse throttle isn't detecting as a NO response. So back to flysky again! any help appreciated

Makes no sense to have a throttle end point above 100%

I have an older Dynamite FUZE sensored brushless motor and esc. it's 13.5T. Would this be better for my crawler? than say a 35 -45T brushed? or would it be worse?
