I can vouch for the Goteck HC2627S.
Pretty strong, smooth.

$150 for an honest 600 oz of reliable torque is a bargain.

Bargain or not, 600oz for most people is excessive. I couldn't fathom spending $150 for a trail truck I don't have $300 in, I'd rather put that towards a better stall converter on my full-scale project.

The JX PDI-6221MG 20KG (291oz) servo is another option, at least for people like me. I haven't tested it as much as I wanted due to the "track" closing for snow, but it's got more than enough balls & speed. I first tested it in my 4WS Wraith. It has a mix of steel and aluminum gears. The big output gear (25T) is aluminum, as are the outer teeth of the first gear after the motor. The inner teeth and the 2 intermediate gears are steel. It also has a brass bushing for the center gear shaft.

A very interesting feature, which is why I bought a bunch, is that it accepts high voltage. I tried it on a fully charged 2S battery w/o problems. It can get hot at 8.4V but it's just the motor putting out heat, not the board cooking. The only thing I don't like is the pot is soldered direct to the board, meaning you need to desolder it to fully waterproof the board.

The best part: it ranges from $10 to $15 from China, depending if you buy a single or 4-pack. I got enough to upgrade the S3003's in my vintage vehicles and spares in case one dies at the track - all for less than a single mid-range Savox. If it's ever not enough, I already have a bracket for twin servos in mind.

Do you need a 10" 3500 stall converter for a rig that sees street usage? Not really.

Did I need to have 44" tires and built one ton axles on my trail wheeler? Nope.

I don't need a 9 lb flywheel and 6 puck ceramic clutch in my DD but it sure makes things more fun. Same as a high stall converter and big dumb tires make street and wheeling more fun.

How do you not have $300 in a trail truck? Unless bought used and not modded.

Dont even bother with these, blew two sets of gears up in them on the first two outings of my bomber with a measily 35t brushed motor.

Promodeler 420v3 has taken its place and has lived up wayyyyy better to the beating

420oz-in v3

spend the 80 bucks, seriously.

Makes it to where you dont have to make as tight of a coil for it to stick. Easier on the wire this way.

I have these also. Really good servo for the price. I've been torturing one for quite a while and it keeps on kickin'.

...so you say, but where's your science backing up your claim ?

Tighter coiling uses up less space.
Often purposeful when fitted in RC cars having restrictive space.

I've been coiling my servo leads since the '80s
and never had issue with wire breakage or wire casing deterioration.
My servos have always become inoperable long before a lead failure might occur.

I might suspect that the heating of the plastic wire casing
could actually do more harm then good, drying it out some,
and increasing the possibility that the wire's casing becomes less flexible.

But do as you like... as will I.

I tried the non-Digi MG968 but it's controller is limited to 6.5v (smoked after 30 sec on 7v). When I pulled it apart the first gear was aluminum and had 2 mangled teeth. The 2 intermediate gears were a mix of steel and brass. If I blow a PDI in the front I'll try the Digi version, but maybe swap in the JX controller. I've only had 1 servo get damaged in 2 decades of the hobby, and that was a Hexfly 15kg that had 10 degrees of free play.

It's called being frugal, a lost American art. A used Wraith, new bearing kit, 4wd conversion, axial aluminum tubes & rod ends, $5 for a receiver, -$40 for selling the stock radio. I got the Proline tires as a gift and installed my own steel weights in the wheels (self-stick from real cars). I built & programmed the 4WS controller, same for the 3 UBEC's.

This is before upgrading the links & adding the rear red light bar & relocating the battery up front:

I'm even 3-d printing replacement wheels since I cracked the spokes on 2 of the Axial Method IDF's it came. One set will re-use the inner clamp & sleeve and another will be a complete 3-pc wheel set. They'll also be BLACK.

I like these:

60G EXI Digital Coreless Servo-D226F w/ Metal Gear EXI-Servo-D226F This one worked good in my 1/8 truggy and I never had a problem with it. It is a little noisy. Digital, has metal gears, listed at 180 oz. torque. The only problem is trying to catch them while they are in stock. It's a great servo for $12

As mentioned above, I have also ran the TowerPro 996 and it is also a great servo. Pretty close to the one I listed above from my use.

Back in the day I ran the JR 8411 and it was a nice servo and was a bit crisper than the ones listed above but you could have 5-6 of the ones above for one of the more expensive.

Don't get me wrong, the nicer servos are great and work amazing. But for me who doesn't compete and is driving for fun and maybe a lil competition between friends for bragging rights the cheaper servos are what I use.

If I go through one cheap servo a year that still takes me 5 years to make up the difference of one of the more expensive ones. And I haven't broken one a year...

To each his own....there is always someone that is gonna have something more expensive and nicer than what I have so I'll just keep within my budget and enjoy the hobby.

TPro958 is the hotness. I've flown tower pro servo's in my helicopters in the past without any problems. They are a little slow but the torque is usually on par with the specs.

I just picked up a Power HD WP-23kg and it seems to have plenty of torque running at 6.6v. Waterproof is also a plus for $45 shipped.

Using a Power HD 20Kg here (20kg @ 6.6v but i use 6v)

It was the red one, not marketed as waterproof but when i dismantled it to check it out i found gaskets on the output gear shaft, where the bottom meets the case and where the wires go in, so i'd be pretty confident it's as waterproof as it's blue "marketed as waterproof" counterpart without the added price

Alloy case as well
