So CAN the JX CLS-HV7346MG be powered directly off of a 3s LiPo or will the 11.1v fry it?

It’s been discussed in a couple of servo threads. Like I said I was unaware of it until it was mentioned and the similarities are too great to ignore.

Yes...why not ?' Its specifically discribed as a "Power" servo. http://www.jx-servo.com/en/Product/SERVO/12Vbs/462.html

John Holmes himself confirmed your servo is a rip-off of his. Let me guess, your updates will be similar to his V2...

Time to dredge this thread up again

I've been running the Power HD LW-20MG, the Annimos\Zoskay\DSServo DS3225 and DS3235 in mine and my 7 year old sons crawler (a good durability test for anything )

Along with my experience and after watching these 2 videos, I can say the clear winner is the Power HD LW-20MG

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBYL5sxcuUI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv4t_-8QAkM

Here in New Zealand, the "35Kg" Zoskay is actually about $10 cheaper to get hold of than the LW-20MG (and is the same torque) but I'll be sticking with the Power HD due to the fact they aren't misleading anyone and my experience with the DS3218 shows durability isn't their strong point.

Amazon link **EDIT - Removed the link because it's no longer valid. Looks like it's hard to find the LW-20MG at the moment. There's a WP-23KG and a LW-25MG (which looks a bit taller)

Ali Express

and yes, even though this is a cheap servo thread, I'll re-iterate that even something like the Savox 1210SG works out to be about NZ $135 and I can get 4 Power HD's for that. I'd have to mortgage my house to get anything like an HH SHV500 V3 but it is still on my wish list

Ive been running this JX for a couple of packs. No hard work yet, but seems nice. Straight of the 2s.

It’s quiet enough and torque seems fine compared to the DS’s.

Man, be off the forum for a bit (ok, all last year) due to life and wind up with a helluva lot of reading to catch up.

I knew about the JX ripoff deal, but not that 3Bros was involved as well. I did buy a G13 while John Rob's servos were unobtanium...that sucks. Everything else of mine has DS3218's, only one I've had to replace was in the Bomber...was just no way one was going to stand up in that beast, but it did make it almost 45 minutes.

So hard in this industry to have any real idea what you're buying, or any other, I guess. I've seen one of my patents in production in an Asian manufactured appliance so I know the frustration...not something I'd knowingly patronize.

So I'm going to throw out my experience with some of these cheap servos I've used over the years.
First up, the ds3218. I got a 4 pack for like 43 bucks delivered a couple years ago. I do not use them in a crawler, i use them in 2 ecx circuits. (Like a traxxas 2wd rustler). They're plenty fast and strong for them, but they dont hold up well to the impacts. I've broken 3 already. Which for the price and time line i suppose isn't that bad at all.
Now my very first cheap servo I bought, little over 3 years ago, was a power hd wp23kg. This cost 38 delivered at the time. It's been in my wraith and still going strong. It's only rated for 6.6v, and at first I was running it at 6v, and it seemed meh. About a year and a half ago, I installed a rx8 esc, and have been running it on 7.4v since then. I have proline 2.2 xls, and a castle 3800kv 1410 motor on 3s. Titanium links, and axial servo horn, with the link on the shorter hole thus further increasing torque. Its still running strong, and I just ordered a new set of gears for it ($13), since its getting a little sloppy. This servo on 7.4v blows away the hitec I have on my son's wraith (not a budget friendly servo either), which claims more torque on 6v then the power hd. ( but it is on 7.4v, versus 6v for the hitec). On 6v, the power hd really wasn't enough for a 2.2 rig. I really didnt expect it to last on 7.4, expected it to fry and then buy a real servo, but its still kicking. Might even get another one once the hitec goes in my kid's rig. Now I'm not suggesting everyone with the wp23kg go throw higher volts at it and expect it to last, but it has for me. Well worth the 38 price and the 13 dollar gear set. Oh and I don't avoid the water with it either, no issues there.

Yeah, the WP23Kg is the other Power HD I want to try when my LW-20MG eventually gives up the ghost.
I'm also keen to try this one. Mostly because it's a more subtle black and has a full aluminum case

Hello, everyone! This will be my first post/reply on this site, I'm the type to mostly lurk in the shadows but I had a question..

I was looking to put together a decently value oriented setup for my crawlers.
Until now I've mostly ran a (decade old) Power HD 1501MG with a Hobbywing 1060 in my SCX10 with great results, but now that I'm thinking of getting a 1080 I'd really like to try out 7.4 high torque stuff.
Ideally I'd like it to have a LOT of torque as it'll most likely also get put into a fully caged C2X with lots of weight.. doesn't have to be fast, as I only ever creep along at not-so-neckbreaking speeds.
As I'm getting the 1080 for quietness, I'd like the same to be the case for the servo.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm happy with my PowerHD 20kg WP, if this is enought torque.
On the other Hand i love also my Holmes Servos (but that's not cheap)

If you're in the cheap servo thread, I'm guessing you want cheap? The Power HD LW-20MG puts out 291 oz-in @ 7.4V and the internal BEC on the 1080 can supply the 4.3A required for that. How much torque are you wanting?
