You mean this one that says discontinued?

I've several other PowerHD servos and I've found their quality is good.

Stupid auto correct on my phone changed it from torque to frequency. and no that's a different servo. The one I'm looking at is the 1501mg.

I've never tried that one, but you should look into this one:

for Crawler / Buggy / On-road #LF-20MG, ,(LF-20MG) by Power HD 4.8-6.6V SUPER TORQUE Digital Servo 0.16sec/277.7oz-in/20kg-cm

I'm using it right now and it's a pretty awesome servo for the money..

It's funny that this servo is a little over the cost of a rebuild kit for a hitec, think I'm going to try One! Thanks for all the info guys!

I did use a pair of Power HD (13kg) servos for my GMade R1. I was unlucky with both of them. The front one began to get hot, when this happens it shuts down the rest of the electronics. (Using Holmes ESC and Sanwa receiver). The second one (rear steering) did the same a month after.

Got my powerhd lw-20, now i'm wondering if it's 25, 24 or 23t can't find clear Info about. But find a few pics, where i can see some are using 25t. I also managed to fit my 25t servoarm, but not sure if it's correct.
Anybody knows the correct meassure? Thx.

I think the generic red one is WP as well. I stripped mines to conformal coat the board and found rubber gaskets everywhere.

thx. The 25T fits and no issues.
So far after the first test, it work great. moved the tires (and little betty) as supposed for 20kg and even with some binds it didn't get worm. run it on 6,0V. Nice servo for the buck, durability i will see...

I've got about 25 miles maybe on mines now with rocks and trailing on a medium weight SCX10 and no issues at all with heat or duribility. It had a really bad fall twice on the same day about 30ft down a grass hill and my cheapo chinese alloy servo horn stripped before the servo did

So i got bored and submerged my new red 20kg Power HD servo in the sink for about 30 minutes and had taps running now and then at high pressure to test the gaskets.

I took it all apart, opened it up and it was dry as a bone and no water had got in at all.

So although it's not advertised as waterproof, it seems to be pretty good.
There are rubber gaskets everywhere.

Output wire
Output gear
Upper and lower sections of the casing
On each screw

Curious to why the blue one is more expensive, i emailed PowerHD to query

****
Good morning from Scotland,

I am using your LF-20MG Red 20KG servo and I am very happy with it. It is a great servo and very good value. Thank you for providing such a good product at a great price.

I noticed that the Blue 20KG LW-20MG is exactly the same as the LF-20MG with performance. However the LW is marketed as waterproof and the LF is not.
From my inspection and testing of the LF, it has the same rubber gaskets and it appears to be waterproof.

Is the only difference between the LW and LF the colour?
If not, please could you advise what makes the LW waterproof and different from the LF?

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
****

And i got the following reply, within a couple of hours (quite impressed!)

****
Hello Dear,

Thank you so much for your email and attention to PowerHD servo. So glad to know that you are satisfied with the servo LF-20MG.

About the difference of LF-20MG and LW-20MG, besides the same rubber gaskets for waterproof of both servos, the LW servo has special waterproofing treatment on the PCB while LF-20MG do not have.

The LW servos is 100% waterproof servo.

Hope this is helpful for you.

B.RGDS,
Tina
****

So it appears that both red & blue PowerHD 20KG servos are using the same waterproof casings, the blue version has a treated (conformal coating possibly) PCB board.

Hope this helps anyone else that was wondering.

Perfect, so my conformal coated red one is good to go, as I suspected...

Tried my 20KG red (gonna just call it this going forward because it's easier to remember) on 7.4v for a bit. Only a couple of minutes in he house working the steering back and forth with grippy 2.2's on carpet. Speed wasn't all that much difference from 6v which i was surprised about and i put it back to 6v. Servo was still cool to touch as well.

Not sure about long term but they can certainly handle 7.4v on a medium weight rig for bit

Good to know. I run mine at 6.6 and it's pretty happy.

My BEC failed and sent 12.6V to my 20Kg unit. I can say with certainity that it Can't handle 12.6...

My first "Red" Power HD 20KG has failed on my today

When it was brand new i had stripped it down to conformal coat it.
Since then it has been submerged, ran in mud, had 2.2's, numerous crashes, tested on 7.4v etc.
About 25 miles over a couple of months, give or take

The last time i ran it, it performed flawlessly for the full day i used it. Couple of hours worth of trailing in damp conditions with some mud and on 2.2's
Drove it back to my car and no hassle at all.

I rinsed off all the water with a low pressure water bottle then put it in my boot, took it home and that was that

Plugged it in today and servo was glitchy and cutting out. Cleaned plug on RX. Same issue. Tried different servo on RX and 100% fine. Original, still cutting out but not working 90% of the time

Removed servo, checked wires, stripped servo and it's completely clean and dry inside and no visible damage to the plug, wires, servo etc

Clueless to what's caused it to fail

Discovered the problem now.
It turns out when i "waterproofed" the PCB board on the first Power HD, i didn't refit a rubber gasket on properly at the gear end. This has caused some moisture to get inside and it appears has caused the motor to become "sticky" from rust. PCB board area is boe dry and spotless but i can see where the rubber seal had ripped and water contamination on the grease on my gears.

My bad. It appears in trying to waterproof my "waterproof" Red Power HD i in fact made it not waterproof. Irony at it's best.
