The suspense is killing me guys. What motor did castle release that was a fundamental failure at what it was made to do?

Trinity d3.5 anyone? Holmes revolver sensored? Novak HV line?

So which motor should I get for my SCX10 II w/ 2-speed transmission that's used for crawling and U4RC, the regular sensored motor or one of these new ones?

Depends on how fast you want it to go. For most people the 2850kv is going to be the best for the SCX10.

It's "slate" grey, AKA grey with a blue tinge. Out of curiosity, what is Castle recommending for the Wraith, the 2280kv?

This is the reason that I pulled my Roc 412 out of my C2 rig. I could get the throttle smooth enough and I could get the drag brake to hold the truck in place, but I could not get it to do a smooth controlled descent like I can with a brushed motor. I may have to give it another try now with the new firmware. Its tempting to give these new Castle motors a shot too since they are reasonably priced.

The new software made this 100x better. It's almost like there's a speed limiter when running partial throttle. Holding 5% throttle limits motor speed to 5%, no mater what it's doing.

It's still not 100% like a good brushed setup right off brake, but it is damn impressive.

$75 is a killer price. Not only are they offering 1900kv, but they'll work up to 4S.

Tell me about it. I use the local SC track just for fun, not racing, and recently switched to the 4-pole 4800kv geared down. More power, more speed, less heat, no cogging. I also tried a Trinity D3 (~2700kv, race legal) but it rarely cleared the tabletop. Now I can SOAR over it.

Motors came in today! Should be shipping out sometime next week provided they pass our tests/inspection.

Ours should have smoother startup, lower minimum throttle, more torque, greater efficiency, and better handling of 3 and 4s. We tested a 1900kv verse a 17.5t redline gen 2 and the minimum RPM for smooth spinning of ours was around 40% of the redline. We also spun it up to 12s voltage just to see what would happen and it survived. The bearings wouldn't have lasted very long and it sounded very angry, but it was just fine after the test.

I don't know that off the top of my head, but diameter is the same as the old 1406 motors. Length varies slightly between the different KV's, but it fairly close to the older motors.

The rotors are in general larger than you would find on a 2 pole motor.

A 17.5 is 2600kv so why not shoot out with the new 2850 ?
I'm running the 17.5(non rpm) in my wraith, doesn't seem to have lots of torque, although it pulls well.
Would I see any real difference other than can color ?

A 17.5 is a 2 pole motor that has most of the design set by roar. The new crawler motors are 4 pole, don't have to follow a roar spec except size, etc.
