source for quality smaller gauge power wire?

all the smaller gauge stuff i keep ending up with is shitty quality. hard insulation and not many strands...

i suppose i could use some nice thin speaker wire, but do any of you dudes know a place to get the same stuff as castle uses for the power leads on their bec's?

Re: source for quality smaller gauge power wire?

How small? Deans and Novak have nice 12-16 gauge wire.

No idea 'bout the wire castle uses, I've been using speaker wire w/clear insulation. I've been wondering about the wire that MORE/VP lights used to come with, I'd like to find a few roles/spools of that for my RCs, that way I'd be able to hide the wires better.

Check out the slot car suppliers. Their wire is like deans noodle wite but super small. I use it on my micros.

TQ Wire is a good source for high quality silicon insulated wire.
They also sell really nice flexible sensor wires.

never even thought of slotcar stuff. thanks. just looking for nice stuff to wire up lights with.

im not even sure what the gauge of the castle stuff is that they us on their becs, 22?

Yep, TQ wire. Stormer comes to mind for it. TQ is the best.

How about just use some old crapped out servo wire? Pull off the third wire

Re: source for quality smaller gauge power wire?

That's what I was going to say. I have a huge roll of servo wire. I just use that.

Re: source for quality smaller gauge power wire?

I use some 28 ga.wire from my local electronics supply house. 2 types, 1 very flexible and the other a little stiffer. All the basic colors; red, blue, green, yellow, white and black. Some secondary colors too; orange, gray, and purple. Just have to remember to use the same color code for accessories in every vehicle. With lights I use the wire color to match the light color; black for all negative and for the positive, white for white LEDs, red for red LEDs, etc. Makes it easy to troubleshoot light issues.

@robert@castle:

Would it be possible to get you guys to add a few more inches of +/- wire to your BECs, I have a few, and I couldn't quite get some of them hid inside my receiver box cause the power wires were slightly too short to reach all the way to the ends of some of my ESCs power wires.

I probably could just solder on an extension, and a servo connector, or something, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

You could solder the power/ground bec wires lower down on the esc wires (like 2" up from the board). I like doing this a lot better so you don't have extra wires at the esc plug.

We have a wire replacement service, but I don't know if we are able to do custom length wires.

It would be quicker and easier to solder on an extension or make the setup modular and put a plug on the BEC that hooks up to a matching plug that runs up to the battery plug.

The 10 amp BEC uses 20ga wire.
