Default HH Puller pro 2700kv vs tekin roc 412 3100kv--opinions or experience?

looking to possibly get a HH puller pro 2700kv to replace my roc 412 3100kv. I will still be running my MMP as an ESC.. anyone have any experience with these 2 combos? thanks!

From what I've read I think it's a bit of a toss up. What don't you like about the Roc? One of the best motors on the market, other than not factory waterproof like the Holmes (yet). Will this be in a scale truck or a Bomber type truck? I have a Puller Pro 3500kv in my Bomber and it's very awesome. Personally I'd go with a 2700kv in a scale truck. But if I had a Roc already, I'd put my money elsewhere.

Highly Recommend the PP 2700 in an scx. I've found my happy medium with it. I have the standard size,( just because of some comments I read about smoothness compared to the other versions). It is baby bottom smooth..
I have to run expo on 60+ because for a 2700 it is super fast... the roc I believe was not designed to go super fast.. this PP is the best of both worlds. W/P too. Except sensor wire port which i just brushed dielectric grease all in and around

In my experience the ROC is smoother compared to the PP and that's using the same ESC and settings.

I've been running the Holmes Puller Pro 2700kv with the new Mamba X on 3s for about a month or so now and I love it. It's in a Wraith with UD rear, standard front ring and pinion and 56/12 on the trans. This is the sweet spot for me in terms of wheelspeed and smooth crawling low end and it is definitely creeper smooth. I like the 3500kv in my go fast(er) Bomber and the 2200kv in my crawler Bomber switching back and forth between 3s and 4s but this 2700kv is the Goldilocks of motors for me, just right. I would've had one much sooner but every time I was ready to order, Holmes was out of stock. Really glad I snagged this one because it's my new favorite motor and I think I finally found my perfect balance.

Default HH Puller pro 2700kv vs tekin roc 412 3100kv--opinions or experience?

I ran ROC 412 3100s on 3S with MMPs in multiple Axial-based rigs for a couple of years before switching to Puller Pros. I have the 3500 std size in a Wraith and a Bomber, and Stubbies (2200, 2700 and 3300) in lots of rigs. I now run the Puller Pros with the Trailmaster BLE. Overall, I find the Puller Pros to be smoother and run cooler than the ROC 412s. For torque and wheel speed, the Stubby 3300 seems to be pretty comparable to the ROC 412 3100. The standard 3500 is definitely a step up in both departments from the ROC 412. If you're after more wheel speed, I would suggest the 3500 if you plan to run 3S or the 2700 if you plan to run 4S. If you're looking for more low speed torque, maybe the 2700 on 4S geared down. Either way (3500 or 2700), you won't be disappointed.

The new Castle sensored brushless motors are also worth a good like. I did some side-by-side comparisons with Hemistorm between the Castle 2850 and a Stubby 2700, both in SCX10 IIs in 3S. I was very impressed with the smoothness of the Castle motor compared to the Stubby, and power seemed right on par.

Switching out a roc for a pp looking for more power is a waste of money.

I dont have any plans on running 4s, although with the saddle pack setup I normally run, 2 2s in series is very easy to do. I am leaning heavily towards the 3500PP

I have the PP 3500kV in my dual purpose (crawling/go fast) Bomber. I agree 3500kV is too fast. I prefer the ROC 3100kV for dual purpose so I can see why you like the 2700kV motor.

Good choice! I'm glad to see more people supporting a "from the ground up American company".

You'll honestly never need the full wheelspeed potential of that 3500 on this platform, but it is peace of mind that its there, just my opinion. I like a good 60 to 80% throttle expo.. and if I want to go full bore I just hit a button to switch to a different setting on my tx. Depending on what type of tx you have, I really enjoy this feature..

I have had many HH motors...most were brushed, a few brushless, they were always excellent motors and I expect this one to be the same..

I am currently facing this same debate. Building an MoA crawler.

I have tekin roc 412 3100kv in my bomber and it was always "to fast" but plenty of torque.

I want to be able to crawl as slow as possible... should I go with HH Puller pro 2700kv?

Sounds like a 1900 Castle Slate may be a good option for you. Lightweight, small size, and can be run with the Micro X in most scalers.

Possibly a Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro Stubby 2200kv?

Power of a full-size 540 in a lighter, smaller can - also will run off of a Micro X... a fair bit more pricey, though.
