Esc question

I've got a esc that has them on/off switch and also a bec with an on/off switch. Where do I plug them into my rx?

Re: Esc question

What kind of BEC is it? Do you want the BEC to power your rx and servo, or just your servo?

Re: Esc question

Idk what kind it is. It's connected with the power wires

Re: Esc question

Post a pic of what you've got. That might help us to help you.

Also, what are you trying to power with the BEC?

oops, double tap.

Re: Esc question

I've never ran a bec before, so that's why it's confusing to me

Re: Esc question

1. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO POWER?

2. Do you have a multimeter? If so, plug up a battery, turn ESC and BEC on, and measure output voltage of the BEC.

Re: Esc question

No I don't have one. All I'm trying to figure out is where to plug the wires into the reciever

Re: Esc question

Let's assume it's for a steering servo. It plugs into slot 1 or steering slot on Rx. If it's a winch or third channel device, it goes into slot 3 or 3rd channel.

The other end of the BEC should plug into the device being powered.

Re: Esc question

And ESC should plug into slot 2.

Re: Esc question

The bec is connected to the power wires and just has the one male rx plug, so nothing can be plugged into the other end. Also the esc rx wire has the red wire removed. This is all confusing to me.

Re: Esc question

The separate BEC takes power from the main battery, and plugs into any spare channel on your receiver. It drops the voltage to a regulated 5v (usually) suitable for the receiver and servos. That means you need to connect it, in parallel with your ESC, to the main battery plug.

The ESC plugs into the throttle channel on your receiver, as normal. If your ESC has an internal BEC, you normally need to disable it when you're using a separate BEC by pulling the red wire out of the plug that goes into the receiver, and taping it back on itself so that it can't touch anything.

I found this. Is this correct?

Yes you are correct. I have no idea why the other guy was telling you different. You are basically using the external Bec to power the receiver to a specific voltage. Removed the red wire from the esc connector and plug in the Bec to any available port in the receiver.

What's it mean by connecting it in parallel with the esc?

I connected the esc into channel 2 and bec into 3 and it just jerks and motor gets warm really quick. It's a novak goat 3s crawler with 18.5 crawler motor
