I just got a the RC4GS for my crawlers, hate taking expensive radios out on the trails. Mine came set for 2s Lipo so with 4 AA's I started getting battery alarms after about an hour. Turn the tx or and back on and I was good for another 5-10 minute. These were brand new batteries that I had put in just before I left. Just an FYI check the battery alarm if your radio is sounding an alarm prematurely.

I noticed on the Radio Link web site there was an updated firmware available 3.0.6 I currently have 3.0.2 but was unable to find any instructions for doing it. I did plug it into my Windows 7 laptop and it saw it but wanted to format it. I searched Google and haven't been able to find how to upgrade the firmware. Any ideas?

Mine came with a CD, didn't try it.
I think there is something to install on your computer first.

I'm always up to trying something new, and kind of like what I've been hearing about this radio.
Sooooooooooooo I just ordered this.

https://www.banggood.com/RadioLink-R...op-buytogether

Has 2 three position switches, so we will see how it works for crawling. Radio and extra 6 channel rx for less than $90 shipped.

I tried binding two new receivers to my TS4G last night and they wouldn't bind. I don't know if my radio is dying since I dropped it or what. I was able to find a receiver that was previously bound and it's working fine.

Weird. I couldn't bind my new HK branded receivers to my old Radiolink RC4g TX. But they worked with my newer TS4g.

By the way, my Turnigy TS4g has different (newer) software than my Radiolink.

I remember there were some compatibility issues between RC3s/RC4g and R4EH-G/R4EH-H, described in Bill DeLong's lost thread on URC...

I believe that Bill has a similar thread on rcgroups.com that likely has the same info.

Little problem today with the RC4GS.
Im trying to put my light controller on channel 3 (the round knob) instead of channel 4 (the toggle switch) and it just won't work.

It seems like both channels are somehow linked together. When i turn the knob full left, it also makes the other channel move to the opposite.

For exemple, lets say i have the 2 speed trans, i would click the toggle switch to shift the 2-speed trans and it would turn on the lights.

Gyro is deactivated

Am i just dumb or this radio is a fake 4 channel?

It can be confusing, for me, to get the 3rd channel working properly. I don't remember it being tied to the 4th channel, but it's been a while. I thought that knob was for the third channel not the 4th.

Yeah the knob is the 3rd. It's currently unused and i have my HeyOK controller on the 4th channel with the clicky button.

I was trying to move the controller to the knob (3rd) so i am ready for the Mamba X AUX control for rock racing / crawling whenever i move to a brushless setup.

The clicky button is also the third channel. The knob is just the "gain" or adjustment for the third channel I believe. I'm not sure if the 4th channel is a mixing channel or what.

I'm starting to regret the RC4GS, should have waited a but more and got the RC6GS...

I'll dig a bit more in the manual but it dosen't look good.

gain for the clicky button? bummer. i was under the impression it was the 3rd channel. whole reason i bought this almost 6 months ago was to run:
2 speed ascender shifting on "clicky" 4th channel (had it set up and working until traxxas micro servo burned out recently... endpoints might be set too far?)
KMS servo winch on "knob" (3rd channel?) with a custom heyok winch controller i haven't ordered yet (but i will i promise!).

BUT

if that knob is not 3rd channel control... I'm kinda stuck and this remote was almost a total waste of time and money.
now i need to do some testing to see whats what.
i could at least put this to use on a drifter with the integrated gyro, so it wont have been a total waste if i cant use the knob for winch control.

otherwise its been a decent tx/rx. it had crossed my mind to convert to a small 2S lipo... i hate to nickel and dime myself to death on throw away AA's. has anyone tried this? i saw it mentioned earlier.

oh and one minor gripe is no place to clip a lanyard. minor but its nice to not worry abut dropping it or where to put it down.
even my axial RTR TX from my yeti has that, and its nice to have.
hmm...
maybe score another axial rx and just put the new heyok wireless dual light/winch controller on it... its not looking good for this radiolink (for what i need to do) :(

No no the knob is definatly the 3rd channel. It controls the gyro sensitivity by default and it works since i can turn it and see the gyro% change on the screen.

When i disabled the gyro, it seems like the knob somehow gets mixed with the 4th channel.

I can't fully test it since i don't own the Mamba X or 2-speed yet.

It should work pretty well for the Mamba X AUX control of the drag brake%

ah ok thanks. so i still might be able to use the knob for "winch in/winch out".
i use the button as a 2 posit toggle for my 2 speed. works great.

I use the button for the headlights / lightbar.
I might have to try and put both the 2-speed and Mamba X AUX on the knob but it seems quite hard to setup from What i read here and on Facebook.
