Default Water and receiver boxes

I carefully and generously siliconed up my SCX10.1 RX box and it survived being at times totally submerged for four sessions in rivers. I went to shift the 2 speed today and nothing happened so I figured the waterproof shift servo had bit the dust or the receiver box has water in it.

After pulling it apart it did so I WD40'd the wet plugs and opened the RX and sprayed it with contact cleaner. Worked perfectly for a 2 hour run after that.

Naturally I don't trust the Axial box anymore and wondered what guys used for their waterproof rigs.

I'm thinking clear plastic so I can easily see if moisture gets in so it's most likely going to be a airtight little spice or lunchbox snack thing with a hole in the side and lots of silicone to try to keep things dry.

Is there anything 'better' than this? It'll be hidden but it'll look a bit iffy with the body off. I think it'll definitely be watertight this time though as these boxes often are even without lots of silicone around the lid. The only real issue is how I hold them down as screws might crack plastic and cause more problems.

I plan to do something similar in my Bomber and TRX too for peace of mind.

Default Water and receiver boxes

Old school , use a small balloon wrapped around the rx. A dab of dielectric grease where wires go into
Put the ballooned rx into your box

Hang up and Drive

besides using the axial box i waterproofed my rx using liquid pvc spray out of the lokal diy shop (gets transparent if dries so led of rx still useable). no issues even if submarined
on another rc i used the traxxas waterproof box + diy waterproofing the electronics
also i use on some electronics plasti dip

I used some kind of isolation-in-a-can from the local electronics store. In one of my RCs I have the Rx out of its case and wrapped in a rubber glove finger.

Look into the traxxas water proof reciever boxes they make a few differt styles to fit your space needs. I have used them for years in all of my different rc's. My scale rigs spend just about as much time uder water/mud as they do above and i have only had one problem due to condensation in the box but never water intrusion. Light grease on the seals and your good to go. I have one crawler that i havent opened in two plus years. Hands down there is no better or cheaper, clean looking alternative.

Conformal coating on the pc board and dielectric grease on the pins. In my opinion it is the best way
