New problem. It has been working fine . I am replacing my steering servo and I was testing it. The esc has a power switch. Now when I hook up the battery. The motors start running at full speed. When I cut the esc on, it doesn't stop. What could be wrong. Esc just went bad?

Sounds like the exact same thing mine did, if so, the heat sink will be VERY hot. More or less the ESC is fried.

| Re: Rooster crawler esc That is pretty much it, although it is funny a FET failing shut like that. Mine went to full reverse, the smell was unmistakable, toasted electronics. It make me a little sad, I have had that ESC for years, it was bought when the first AX10a came out, then saw service in my scaler through multiple G-6s. I can't complain too much about it dying, as many times as it was submerged I figured it would have died long ago, I certainly got my money out of it.

Thats what i was afraid of, guess ill be ordering 2 esc's. What do you suggest for it. Clod based . Going to use 2 esc's. 1 for front and 1 for rear. It has the older EPIC brushed motors. They work great so not changing them right now.

I actually have a super rooster in my clod turning 2 Trinity 19T motors, that's certainly a start if you can find one. Another option would be the Traxxas Summit esc (EVX-2), it seems to be beefy enough. The specs are dual 550-12t motors, but I've seen people claim dual 775 and larger motors. It can also run up to 4S power, which could open up motor options - and make your gears hate you. There are a bunch of people selling them for <$70 on ebay, usually pulled from new kits. Edit: looking at another Summit ESC post here, the Hobbywing Quicrun 860 seems like a better choice & really cheap. The WP1080 has better specs (80/400A vs 60/360A) & drag brake, 10T @2S vs 12T @2s with a 3S limit. Last edited by Hydrocarbon92; 09-24-2017 at 10:13 PM. |

Then maybe the WP1060 model if you want to keep cost down with 2x. The only down side for that model is it's drag brake isn't adjustable while the 1080 has 9x levels. HW ESC's tend to be very robust, I know their Seaking line is very common with boaters, and they push 150A+ thru them.
