Default cooling motor with water ok?

is it ok when my brushed motor gets hot to just spray it with a water bottle to cool it down quick.just got a traxxas bigfoot motor gets pretty hot before battery is even done but i am running it in grass.its brand new everything stock pinion stock 14t i think. might have to go brushless any motor esc combos out there peaple like i heard hobbywing 3800kv

its not ok to cool anything with water when its hot. The rapid cooling warps metal, cracks coatings and generally causes rapid oxidation of metals.

Yeah, this is definitely not the way to extend the life of that motor. Knock the gearing down another couple of teeth, find a way to get it more airflow, or go with a setup that is more efficient (which would be my preferred approach).

What Ditchrat said. Do not cool or anything down rapidly. Instead look for the cause of the excess heat. Try gearing it down to make the motor happier. Also check for any binding issues. And the. Look at the size of tires itnhas. All of them could be a strain on the motor.

Sorry I skipped over the details. I have a bigfoot my kid runs, stock in grass and it never gets hot. Assuming it is the stock motor, something else is wrong there. It does come with two pinions, you didnt put the larger pinion in or maybe it was shipped with it? That would get the motor hot on grass. Might want to check that.
