What is the purpose of these capacitors on the stock 35 turn dynamite brushed motor in my vaterra ascender? I'm replacing it with a Holmes hobbies trailmaster sport 55turn and should I install these on the new motor? Still using stock vaterra ascender esc. Thanks!

Yes, just set the ESC to brushed mode in castle link.

They are filter capacitors that were needed back in the days of FM and AM radios. Not really needed these days, don't worry about adding them to the trailmaster.

What's the difference between "crawlmaster pro 13t" and the now limited edition "custom pro 13t" more punch? Smoothness? Low end? I assume wheel speed is the same on the 13t's?.. I already ordered one but love to know a little more about it [emoji106]

Heavier wire gauge gives better punch and better efficiency under load. You may notice a little increase in wheelspeed as well, depends on gearing.

I'm running a PP-2200kv in my SCX10.2 with 56/11 gear ratio. I ran it for about 45 minutes (mainly slow crawling) and the data log from my Mamba X shows that the maximum current draw was only 12amps. Is this a reasonable reading? If this figure is reliable, then I really don't need to buy high C rating lipo packs right?

Short answer: yes.

The X esc's don't have the refresh rate to catch the absolute peak, but that number is close...


It's a crawler, they draw almost no current.

C ratings are all made up anyway. :lmao:

C ratings are supposed to be Amp rating (let's say 30A) over capacity (2000mAh); a 2000mAh 30A pack should be able to supply a continuous current of 15C. Imo C ratings are useless and should be replaced with the Amp rating, as I can't think of a single situation where C rating is more useful.

I'm a little confused. Regarding the new HV500V2. In a post it was stated that it is capable of 2-3 S but the tech. spec. on the website only say 2 S compatible like the old version. What are now the correct specs.

I think he was referring to the HV500 servo. It was originally 2s compatible. I think the v2 is 3s compatible along with a stronger case and center pin.

So the SHV500v2 is 4s compatible and the HV500v2 is 3s compatible.

Using that particular motor, you are indeed correct that the max current isn't very much in your setup. As stated, the refresh rate of the data is kinda slow and won't show real peaks. Anything 1300mah 35c or bigger is enough.


Officially the HVs are 2s rated. Unofficially, the electronics will handle 3s just fine, but we don't have enough long term testing to say it is safe for long term reliability. It's stupid fast and powerful.

Can I do 4S @4volt each cell(not 4.20) .. On BRXL with the limited edition "custom pro 13t".. It will be only on comps, so fearly short runs and full throttle will probably not happening often but just want to have the extra power/punch in back up..

The AE2 survives 4s just fine. The BRXL just has a better BEC, IIRC.

Be careful of stalling the motor, You can fry the comm in an instant if your not careful.

4s is no problem. Have a first gen shv and sticking to 16v for that reason?

last weekish. The last batch of shv was also 4s safe. If you have any issues, you will get a v2 for warranty "thumbsup"
