| Airplane ESC winch controller?
I was wondering if anybody has tried an airplane ESC as a winch controller for the rc4wd warn 9.5 winch? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a few foam electric planes, as far as I know the plane esc's do not have reverse.

Oh shoot. I did not think about that. Thank you. I have planes though so I may try it anyway. I can always use it on something else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey i was looking into this not long ago, and i found the solution: a brushed boat esc. You can get a 10A 3s capable esc from a company called mtroniks and its pretty cheap too. But i just decided to hook up a micro servo to a 3 position switch for mine, so theres no electronics between battery and winch. Means im not limited by current or voltage, and theres nothing to fail.you can see it next to the motor. Some winches even come with the switch instead of a controller, so its a really easy mod Mst cfx Axial wraith Axial yeti 8x venom creeper |

I just use 1/18 scale crawler ESCs, they have more than enough power to drive the winch and the drag brake helps the winch not to spool out under load when you have it stopped.

Yeah i just find it to be the most reliable and i can run as much power as the winch can handle. The boat esc looks like a good bet though if its still availible Mst cfx Axial wraith Axial yeti 8x venom creeper |

I've been using a $12.00 eBay from China special for a while now and have had zero trouble with it on 3s even under water. Could of just lucked out though . Bob |

Hobbywing 1060 esc makes the best winch controller.
