| How to make a servo rotate 360 degrees or more ?
I need to extend the control position of a servo to 360 degrees or beyond. I don't care about the loss in resolution but I need a full turn and possibly two. I checked the Hitec 785 HB which can do 3.5 turns but is is huge and I cannot use anything bigger than a standard servo. I cannot move the potentiometer to a reduced axle too, so I would need a multi turn one, which can easily replace the stock one. Any suggestions ? If there no solution I would try to extend the servo travel to the potentiometer physical limits, almost 270 degrees. Putting the epa to the max I cannot go beyond 140 degrees. What can I do ? Thanks Filippo |

Why not just pull the limiting pin ? Or do you need multiple turns? Servo winches rotate 360, by removing the pin Hang up and Drive |

remove the limiting pin from the output. Remove the feedback potentiometer. Solder in two 4.7k resistors where the pot was installed to the PCB. Viola, continuous rotation servo. |

If the OP needs to control the actual position, a 360-modded servo won't be any help. W/o a pot you can only guess where it will stop. Look for sailboat winch servos like the HiTec you posted. They have the pots geared down. You could mod the pot with resistors in parallel instead of series like mentioned above to reduce it's range and increase sensitivity. Aside from those, the most I've seen is 300 degrees. |

Turnigy TGY-6114MD seems to do what I need but it is not clear how to set the number of turns it rotates for both right and left limits. | |

I think by programmable they mean you adjust your radio's end points and/or dual rates. 50% would change it to 3 turns for instance. An HS-785HB would probably work too, while being cheaper & in-stock. Lower max turns means a bit more precision per turn. Here's an interesting explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaRFgXzupFA If you're into DIY'ing, here's a guide to making your own using spur/pinion gears and an external multi-turn pot: RCSails - DIY Sailwinch |
