It all depends how much your rig weight? and your budget. Light stock truck 9.5 should be suffice. Heavy truck can be benefits from the 8274.

8274 is an easy choice for me, if it's in the budget.

The free spool and much stronger pulling strength make it far more useful than the 9.5.

9.5 is good enough for Sawback. Since the 8274 has more powerful motor, so should be better quality compared to 9.5. As the powerful motor should work more easy than the less power motor. I guess

It allows you to pay out the winch without having to use the controller, a good feature to have.

If you can afford the 8274, then I recommend getting it, its always better to have too much power, than not enough. The 9.5 is REALLY lackluster for power, and it is REALLY slow. There are some upgrades that can be done to it, but if you don't feel like soldering in a new motor into the 9.5, then the 8274 is the way to go.

Here is a video I did on the 9.5...

Ditch the stock controllers and use a micro brushed esc+3s... It wakes up even the 3racing winch.

I have the 3racing winch on my sawback and it is a joke. I was considering grabbing a micro esc as you mentioned, but half of them looked identical to the lackluster "winch controller" that mine came with.

Any recommendations? Ebay links?

A 1/18 scale crawler ESC works great, it has more power than you need and can be set up with a drag brake.

Pro tip: 99% of winches are all the same inside. Buy the one you like the looks of and upgrade it to a better motor/gearbox unit when it breaks.

Good point Jato, had my RC4WD 9.5 last two weeks ago and loved it. Yes, I like scale Warn winches. Thank you

Just connect the motor leads to the winch, like you would any other motor. the JST connector goes to a spare channel in the RX, and connect up the power. You can either get a splitter to run battery power to both ESCs, or you can solder the leads together and have one battery connector. The only other thing you need to do is to remove the red wire going from the winch ESC to the RX... Easy-peasy!

If you are talking about the Solo and Leia, I believe I got those at Toys-R-us.

Good evevning Greatscott, look likes the SlickRock's ESC (DYNAMITE TAZER MINI WATERPROOF BRUSHED ESC ) has been discontinued. After searching I found this one: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/quicrun-...5-brushed.html

Can you help me to check whether the spec is sufficiency to( Can be ) used on the Warn 9.5CTi which? or do you have any other good micro ESC suggestion?

Though?

Thank you

Reading the specs on that one, it does not look like it has instant reverse or a drag break, recommend the ESC linked below. It easily powers my 260 and 380 sized motors, so it will handle that winch motor with no problems.

Pretty much any 1/18 brushed esc will work. Stock esc's from rtr's is what I've been reusing... axial ae5 for instance. Also an older fxr in another one.

Ok good. A wp 1040 or wp 1060 will work then. Used ae2s and ae5s are always overpriced when i see them on Kijiji or ebay.ca
