It all depends how much your rig weight? and your budget. Light stock truck 9.5 should be suffice. Heavy truck can be benefits from the 8274.

8274 is an easy choice for me, if it's in the budget. The free spool and much stronger pulling strength make it far more useful than the 9.5. |

| Re: rc4wd winch choice... It allows you to pay out the winch without having to use the controller, a good feature to have. If you can afford the 8274, then I recommend getting it, its always better to have too much power, than not enough. The 9.5 is REALLY lackluster for power, and it is REALLY slow. There are some upgrades that can be done to it, but if you don't feel like soldering in a new motor into the 9.5, then the 8274 is the way to go. Here is a video I did on the 9.5... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUu0i-HsTWM&t=4s |

Ditch the stock controllers and use a micro brushed esc+3s... It wakes up even the 3racing winch.

| Re: rc4wd winch choice... A 1/18 scale crawler ESC works great, it has more power than you need and can be set up with a drag brake.

Pro tip: 99% of winches are all the same inside. Buy the one you like the looks of and upgrade it to a better motor/gearbox unit when it breaks.

| Re: rc4wd winch choice... Just connect the motor leads to the winch, like you would any other motor. the JST connector goes to a spare channel in the RX, and connect up the power. You can either get a splitter to run battery power to both ESCs, or you can solder the leads together and have one battery connector. The only other thing you need to do is to remove the red wire going from the winch ESC to the RX... Easy-peasy!

| Re: rc4wd winch choice... Pretty much any 1/18 brushed esc will work. Stock esc's from rtr's is what I've been reusing... axial ae5 for instance. Also an older fxr in another one.

| Re: rc4wd winch choice... Ok good. A wp 1040 or wp 1060 will work then. Used ae2s and ae5s are always overpriced when i see them on Kijiji or ebay.ca
