| New Bomber Build. Best motor/esc
First let me put this out there, MONEY IS NOT AN ISSUE, I am not looking for a cheap way to get my Bomber up and running. Just looking for recommendations on the best motor and esc in your opinion. I will make my decisions after reading the input and see what else is out there by the talk on here.

I haven't used it myself, but personally if money was no object I'd be going with the Holmes Hobbies set up, including servo. Or if not that then the Tekin Roc412 and Castle MMP. Whatever you get, be sure to add the Castle external BEC to it, if you don't already know about those, so all the power goes to the right places all the time |

ESC: Castle Creations Mamba Monster X Motor: Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro R 540-L Rock Crawler Motor Servo: Holmes Hobbies SHV500 V2 (runs direct from your Lipo 2-4S) The ESC can run any Servo up to 8.0V with the internal 8A Bec, alternative ESC Castle Creations Mamba X same internal bec. And u can use the AUX function of the X series ESC for a crawler/ rock racer esc setup depending on the drag brake setting My future setup for my little monster |

Welcome to the site. This has been covered extensively. ESC: Castle Mamba X Motor: Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro or Tekin ROC412 with your kv of choice And NO, you do NOT need an external BEC with the Mamba X ESCs. |

I agree with the previous comments. I run: ESC: Mamba Monster X (I love the Aux function to switch change drag brake and go from rock race to rock crawl) Motor: Holmes Puller Pro 3500 KV Servo: Holmes SHV500 v2 I have had hit and miss lucks with the early Holmes servos. I think he has it worked out now. |

It's retains the smooth startup and low speed control of the 540 standard unlike the bigger 540 XL. I think it's for the hardcore racers. For us mere mortals, the standard 3500kv is supposed to be enough and even too much for trails. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk | |

I chose the Castle Mamba X, for the aux wire function. For example, you can use a third channel to turn off/on or adjust the drag brake on the fly, or combine it with the change from high to low gear on the two speed. I run three servos at 7.4v without issue using the Mamba's internal bec. I paired it with a Tekin ROC412 HD 'element proof' motor, because they are waterproof (subject to sensor wire limitations) and are locally stocked where I live, and are available in the kv rating I wanted for my yeti (3100). While this is in a yeti, I really like how the low gear changes the nature of how the truck responds, and that it takes the strain and heat out out the motor and esc when crawling. I have the Mamba's aux wire connected in parallel with the shift servo, so with the change to low gear I also engage the drag brake and the crawler reverse mode. It takes patience to set it up the first time, but there are examples posted various threads here, and you can always ask, if you decide to go that route. |

I'm looking at getting a bomber kit build, and wondered what motor, esc, and servo I should use. I was thinking about a Holmes Hobby Trailmaster Pro 3300kv motor and a savox cordless waterproof steel gear servo, but I'm unsure about the esc. Any ideas for a good waterproof esc thats not over 75 dollars or so. Thanks!

Mamba micro x, if you gear down enough, it can handle it. If you don't gear down enough it releases the magic smoke. For crawling it is good, but for bashing spend the extra money or just stay brushed. A 550 21t trailmaster and a hw 1080 is only $60 and performs well. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
