Default Anyone here have a Crawlmaster 11x?

Iíve got one with a BR-XL on 3S and the startup isnít great.. it kind of surges. Once itís spinning itís super smooth, but the start from Zero isnít silky.

Iím comparing it to a 13t, (2) 16t motors, and a 20t. All are handwinds, with BR-XLs and 3S.

Just the nature of the 11x to startup this way?

Hi John, its a Custom Pro 540 11x. its in a tf2 Marlin crawler with a 12t pinion replacing the stock 14t.
Its reverse rotation, so I have it timed backwards at 6 degrees.

The 11t does have less smooth startup just because of the wheelspeed and brush loss. You might need to adjust the timing a bit different, as some of the skewed arms didn't have the comm installed perfectly aligned. Look through the window as you have the photograph taken, over the timing screw. There should be a comm slot showing in the middle if not rotate the armature one 'thunk". If it isn't perfectly in the middle, your zero point of timing will be offset the same amount that the slot is offset.

Good information, thanks. I couldn't really see anything through the window, so I pulled it apart. The comm seems to be aligned just fine. I did notice at the output end that the windings extend past the perch that the washer sits on. This causes the washer to rest on the windings. It also looks like one of the windings has a mark on it, through the coating. I can't tell from what. Let me know if that's something that I need to worry about; the motor is still new and hasn't had but about 800mah through it.
