Default Hobbywing 1080 Setting Chart by JBoucher

I decided to evolve this thread into something more than just a few quick questions.

I've created a simple Excel file to gather all the different settings by the users of this little gem of an ESC.
Hopefully this can help new users to figure out what to do with it and also keep the questions all in one place.

So here's the brand new Hobbywing 1080 Setting Chart by JBoucher !
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gG...EOd95A4RCXEmpE

If it grows into something too big, i may consider a version 2 where i can split Crawling / Trailing / Rockracing into sections.

Feel free to keep sharing your settings in the thread, i will keep it updated. Please include the type of profile (Crawling, Trailing, Rock Racing) and some feedback as to why you choose those settings.

I'd be interested in other's settings as well, particularly #15: "freewheeling." I've read up on it, the cows came home, and I still don't understand.

I have a couple HW 1080s. One is in a more dedicated crawler that I use for rock crawling and trailing. The other vehicle is in a more rock racer type vehicle--faster, but still able to do some crawling. I set the lipo cutoff on high for both and still seem to get plenty of time before it cuts in. I set the initial start force to 2% on both and seem to have very good low speed control with this. I set max reverse force to 75% on each. Drag brake is at 100% on both. Drag brake rate I have at 4 on my crawler, but 2 on the rock racer so it slows down a little more progressively when it is going full speed. Haven't settled on punch yet, but think I set it at 7 for the crawler and 4 for the rock racer. PWM 16K on both. Freewheeling enabled on both.

Not sure about freewheeling on a crawler? Doesn't that adversely affect the drag brake?
I'll check my settings this evening and post up. Been running on my SCX10 for about 6 months and works very well for crawling and trails.

but did the fat lady sing? best practice I've found is to take the included program box to my prefered crawl spot to change and see how the settings affect the behavior. One hobbyists settings may not be what another hobbyist wants in his crawler esc.

One thing I can say for sure is that the lipo cutoff setting "High" is awesome for me, because it cuts Pow Pow right at storage charge (awesome)!!! So, when I get home Sunday night after Crawling all day and going to dinner, one beer two beers, three beers four, cleaning gear, putting said gear away.... I don't have to charge or maintain batteries because, bing bang the esc already did that for me.

regarding freewheeling, just don't release the trigger abruptly, and learn throttle control. Every situation is different, play with the settings, play with the terrain, see what you can control, make adjustments and go from there.

Thanks rockhugger. I've been curious about the low, medium, high lipo cutoff of the 1080. I have a Redcat Gen7 with the re-branded 1040 in it and have been running a low voltage battery alarm plugged in to the balance plug as I feel the lipo cutoff on the 1040 is too low. I've been gradually lowering the alarm voltage which is now set at 3.5V per cell and ESC LVC is still not kicking in. At storage voltage of 3.8 per cell I'm not happy with the 1040 as I don't like to discharge below storage voltage. I have a 1080 and have been reluctant to use it based on my 1040 experience. Might now be prepared to give the 1080 a try. Thanks again for the info.

Did a little research today and altered my settings to this, which suits my lighter crawler on 1.9s nicely so far:
3-1-4-2-4-3-7-1-8-2-4-4-4-1-1

I left freewheeling on since I got the ESC and drag brake works flawlessly.
LVC set to high, although I think I never got to LVC since I used 5Ah 3s packs until recently. 2 hours of trailing and I end up at 3.8ish V.

Anyone else got any SCX10 II specific settings?
My ESC seems very jerky, running a HH motor on 3s with a Castle BEC, my Bomber is super smooth, but no drag brake so don't want to copy that set up as it's set for speed, not crawling.

You can't upload it here. Star holding members might be able to, but it's a better idea just to host it somewhere and share the link.

New Excel file is setup on my google drive. I also included the stock settings from Hobbywing as well as the description for each of them.
I went through the old 1080 thread and pulled all the setting i could find so far.

I will keep updating it as we get more settings posted by members.

Thank you

It's supposed to be up now.
I also tried to add the model name (rr10, Scx10, etc) when available.

I commend you on your effort, but this is pointless.
It's really not that hard to understand each setting and set it to your needs and the characteristics of your rig.

I agree but i like comparing things in life and it gives an idea of the most used settings.
