Transmitter and Receiver combo

Hey, I just cooked my stock receiver in my scx10, I am looking for a new setup and looking for suggestions. Looking for the best bang for my buck. Three channel is fine.
Thank you for any advice.

I'm pretty sure this is your answer and can be hacked to set up to 6 channels. Enjoy!

$10 more gets you an upgraded radio with lipo battery and USB charger. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b7025ed776.jpg

^^^ Agreed, for the money, the FlySky GT3-C is incredible. I love mine! And being able to charge it from the PC while browsing this here forum... too cool!

(and then there's that lanyard loop that I can't shut up about - you'll never understand how you got along without one once you try it)

I'm going to be grabbing a GT3B soon to compare it to my other radios, but right now my favorite are the Radiolink RC3S/RC4G radios. They're cheap, they're 4 channel, and they have a fantastic amount of configurability. A hacked GT3B/GT3C will have more channels and more capability, but for an out of the box plug & play radio, the Radiolink is hard to beat.

The Turnigy TS4G (Rebranded Radiolink RC4G) is my favorite radio as well.

I like that the included receiver is 4 channel, plus gyro support (sold separately I suspect), programmable mixing, Throttle Acceleration, exponential and curve adjustments. Not bad for $47 (pre-shipping).

Gyro is included in the receiver (built in).
I tried it out in my 2WD SC but never liked it really. I found I was a more consistent driver with EPA and D/R tuning. You can adjust the gyro but can't turn it off via remote. Only using the button on the Rx. IMHO It's more of a gimmick than really useful, but even without that it's a great 4CH radio, up there with $$$ models in performance and options!

The gyro's mostly for drifting, right?

I guess. Theoretically it should be good for keeping trucks (especially RWD) in check on loose terrain but all it does in practice is reduce steering. :)

Re: Transmitter and Receiver combo

I never tried the gyro in my Radiolink radio, but I did install a separate gyro in my son's Circuit. Way back when I had Traxxas Talon tires on the truck, it was uncontrollable in loose dirt. All he ever did was spin out and he got very frustrated with it. I threw a gyro on the truck, and it was a night and day difference. It was as controllable on loose dirt as it was on grass. He could drive it and enjoy it no matter what surface it was on.

Later on I upgraded to better tires (JConcepts Choppers) and the gyro was no longer necessary, but it did make me a believer in their usefulness under the right conditions. If I was to set up a winter basher to use on ice and snow, I'd add a gyro for sure.

Not necessarily. As was said, it can be used to help keep a vehicle straight in loose terrain. Personally, I disable the gyro. You can get the receivers without a gyro as well and that's what I usually buy.

The cheapest option is a Flysky 2ch radio, but that's got dials rather than digital trims. The GT-3's have expo, end point adjustment, and dual-rates stock. Hacked they have a slew of additional features, and only takes $5 worth of parts. The included lipo on the GT-3C is really nice - you can charge it with a cell phone power bank while you drive. That's saved my butt a few times.

I haven't heard anyone with glowing reviews of integrated gyros. Only a few aftermarket gyros get good reviews, and only when the user adjusts it properly. They pretty amazing if done correctly. If you watch some "how to" vids explaining them for drift cars, the proper gyro with the proper settings will not restrict steering in any way - and these cars have nearly 180* steering so it would be obvious.

I've also seen some instances with off-road vehicles, but side-side roll from uneven bumps can adversely affect the gyro.
