Default brushless esc / motor ?

not specific to crawlers
I picked up a LOSi ten scte that has a like new ESC and motor. the ESC is a MSC-MXPRO. it visually looks the exact same as the castle mamba max pro. The motor is a 550 4pole 2800KV sensorless.

My question for the wiser out there is, are these two speed controllers the same?

if not... can i run a sensored 4300 KV motor with the MSC-MXPRO?

would i be better off trying to sell the losi combo and just get the XR8 and 4300 combo?

Is this the ESC you have? Losi: 1/10 MSC-MCPRO Brushless ESC: Losi (LOSB9504)

If so, the specs are as follows (taken from that page):

Forward:Yes

Reverse:Yes

Brake:Yes

Time Delay Brake:Yes

Input Voltage:8.4V - 16.8V

Input Connector Types:EC3

Output Connector Types:4.0 Bullet Plugs

Motor Limit:No Limit (540 Size Motors)

Length:1.85 in (47.0mm)

Width:1.52 in (38.7mm)

Height:1.27 in (32.2mm)

Weight:2.83 oz (80.2g)

BEC Voltage:Programmable

PWM Frequency:12Khz

Overload Protection:Yes

Full On Resistance:.300 Ohms

Wire Gauge:13AWG

Auto Cutoff:Yes

But if you open up the manual, found here: http://www.losi.com/ProdInfo/Files/LOSB9504-Manual.pdf

It says:

Specifications
Motor Type Sensored and Sensorless
Brushless
Low-Voltage Cutoff Automatic Detection
Input Voltage LiPo 2–4S or 8.4V–16.8V
Full On Resistance .0018 Ohm
Motor Limit 4.5T 550 Sensored
Motor Output 13AWG
Lead AWG
Motor Connector 4.0mm Bullet Plug
Battery Input 13AWG
Lead AWG
Battery Connector EC3™
Type
Dimensions 45.5 x 36.5 x 21.5mm
(1.79 x 1.44 x .85 in)
Weight 81 g (2.8 oz)
(without wires)
BEC Output 5.5–7.0V

Turn to kv isn't a direct correlation and manufacturer specs vary so you are getting close to the limit with a 550, 4-pole 4300kv motor.

Brushless Motors

this page makes it seem that a 4.5 correlates to a 9300....

but then i found this. so it seems i would be close to maxing out the ESC

tekin 4.5t

this is the motor I want to run with the losi ESC https://www.amainhobbies.com/hobbywi...401152/p580789

That chart is horrible! I can't believe RCCA has that on their site.

HobbyKing is another place you can go to check out turns vs kv. Their 4.5T 550 brushless motor is 4,550kv.
