Default Ax10 glitching after installing hw 1080?!?

I have a ax10 scorpion. Everything was stock except last week in put in this servo HITHS645MS - Super Torque MG Univ 0.20/133oz By HITEC @ Great Hobbies
It all worked good.
Today I installed a 1080 esc and now the truck is very glitchy. I read it might be caused by too much power feeding the servo? 6 v servo. My esc is set to 6v. Any help would be great

The 1080 could probably feed 3 servos like that easily. How exactly is it glitchy?

It will move on its own at times. Never did this before. Steer or drive on its own.
Also I don’t have a 2.4 receiver. It’s old school

So, an AM radio, or an FM radio?

Do you have a spare set of frequency crystals to change it over to and test it again?

I guess you're experiencing some radio interference, maybe from the new ESC and/or motor. Just rearranging the wiring may help, but I'd suggest getting a 2.4GHz set. Good stuff can be had for under 50$.

Definitely, what Ninomaniac said... I'd get a FlySky GT3C - comes with a USB-rechargeable LiPo battery for the transmitter, 3-channels, 10-model memory (and more receivers are less than $8, so you can control your other RCs for CHEAP!):

Sometimes that's the way it works. But it's always a good excuse for more mods.

Radios can be had at any budget.

Find yourself a stock Tactic 3 channel radio from an RTR Axial even (not the crappy Honcho style, though! Make sure its the 3 channel one). Solid little radio for what it is. The Spektrum DX2E that comes with the Vaterra Ascender is a good beginners unit too. Either should be had for $45 CAD.

It could be your 1080's neutral range is set too narrow. If the radio is old, it's possible it's not centering that great. Check out setting 11, change it to a higher number and see if that helps. Also try unplugging the steering servo to see if that changes anything. It's unlikely but I have seen HiTec's cause issues with certain radios, but it's usually very high-tq afftecting Spektrums.

You could also try changing #13, PWM freq. Certain motor frequencies from brushed motors can really affect FM/AM radios from EMI.

Ok thanks for the info. I’ll try that for sure. A few of the options on the 1080 I don’t even k ow what they do.. yea it’s a older radio. It did work fine with the old esc and new servo.

Try mounting your receiver and ESC further apart from each other. AM/FM radios are more prone to interference than 2.4ghz, but just moving equipment to opposite ends of the car could make enough difference to eliminate your glitching... and it's free to try.

Are your antennas (TX and RX) fully extended and pointed straight up?

The antenna on the truck is not. Don’t have a tube to hold it up.

Wouldn't need a bec with that setup. 1080 has a strong internal bec

Rebwored connections. Made a mount and put esc on the rear end. Turned my neutral passion on the esc up. Still does it at times. Looking for a used remote and receiver
