Cheap Electronics Review. Servo. Isdt 70 ESC. Holmes Brushed 550

Rig 1/10 Axial copy cat from RGT/FTX 1speed with 2.2 Proline Hyrax Predator and Alu Bedlock rims. Stock pinion. I had 2t smaller in beginning.
Change to stock, have little more speed at trails. 3s lipo
This is my Budget build. Got the Car Roller already build. No Electronics.

I do most Crawling and little bit trailing with this rig and Set up

Now to Electronics.

Cheap Servo

25$ from Aliexpress. With shipping, and tax

Pros:
Heavy weight. Great add some weight in front, compared to plastic servos.
Looks nice.
I did open it and check. Great Sealings. True waterproof servo.
Alot Grease stock.
I did anyways add extra Marine Grease at the gears. And i did spray
the motor and other stuff inside with Marine Spray to have it
110% Corrosition proof and super extra protected. I do this with
all my Servos. No matter brand och price. ALL get same always.

Cons:
I believe the true power is about 25kg at 7.4v like i have it from my ESC.
it is slow also.

Overall, good cheap servo. Budget.
Anyways i wish more power and speed because i have 2.2" heavy big wheels.
Im shure this servo will be great in stock smal 1.9 plastic wheels
and light weight rig. Anyways it will be slow always.

Overall score 6+ of 10. So cheap, great build quality.
OK power, biggest downside is the speed.

NEXT ESC

Cheap budget ESC ISTD 70A 2-3s Programming by Bluetooth phone
Download app ISDT GO google that and download it.
Price 26$ with shipping, and Tax from Aliexpress.

Pros:
Bluetooth by cellphone. Awsome. No need buy programmercard.
Alot settings.
Super great controll, nice low speed, modulation. Great Power.
Great drag brake
Cheap
This brand is known for making very good chargers also.

Downsides:
Bluetooth can be problem connect. I did try all my 3 cellphones.
2 works great, 1 will not bind to this ESC.
These are all from year 2020 or never. And updated Androids.
Can be hard to program to beginners.
You must watch EXOCATED RC how he programs this.
I did wrong first. After watching EXOCATED ISDT 70 Video
it did start work SUPERB, so nice. You must watch his video.
He is very happy about this ESC.
Because he knows how to set it up.

There is one important setting many dont know to have this ESC
work 100% This is why you need watch his video.
I dont remember the special setting name now, i will give it to you
tomorrow, this is very important to know.

Overall
i give this ESC 8.5 of 10. If it did work with all my 3 cellphones i have
give it 9.5 of 10.

If you have friend with another brand cellphone. Then please buy this ESC.
You need only do the settings Once.
Mostly your Cellphone will work. If not. Just use your friends phone once
and be happy. At this price nothing comes close this ESC.

There is only 2 cheap and good Brushed ESCs that handles 2.2 wheels
and have nice handling and everything.
These are HW 1080 and This ISDT or is it ISTD ? 70 esc
it has 70amps

Now they have also release one 90amp new one.
It is 10 or 15$ more
I will buy that one next month to my new budget 6x6 build.


LAST. CHEAP Motor brushed ,that handles 3s

Holmes Hobbies 550 sport Crawl Master 12T
This motor is awsome. I have another one that is 4mounths old
and used alot in bad conditions. More T.s little bit slower.

Pros. Price. Power. Handling, everything is great at this low price.

Cons, Not a single one.

A must have if you want Brushed cheap motor to your Crawler.

Servo = buy another one. If you like slow servo, with decent power
to light weight rig, with light weight plastic 1.9 wheels. Then go buy this
9imod. Build quality is awsome.
Remember it has about 25kg in real. 7.4v
You need have 7.4v
6volt it will be weak. Less than 20kg maybe.


There is also Hobbywing Fusion SE 1800KV Brushless combo today cheap.
Less than 90$

You can get this Fusion fast also.

Remember Aliexpress/china is slow delevery.
Minium 2weeks. Mostly 3-5weeks.

No hurry? want upgrade old RTR crawler and have it great the most Cheap way? , or fix new budget build?

You will be happy if you dont mind old Brushed style motor.

Gear down. Volt up. Or buy motor with More Turns. Anyways 3s
for that nice Power / Punch

My isdt esc70 worked fine on my wraith for trail riding. No problems with Bluetooth connection or adjusting settings. When I tried to crawl with it I found the drag brake would not hold on even a slight hill. I tried every drag brake setting available and it would never do any more than descend slowly on a hill unless I held throttle to keep it still. I ditched it for a fusion pro that behaves exactly like i expect. It lives in a drawer now.

There is also one mode that have full break
if you dont want have auto slow run down with dragbrake

I did have this in beginning
But i like this setting best = auto slow run down.

I will check what setting that was, full dragbrake style
next week.

I believe it is called Holmes Hold?
This esc have it also.

this setting was not about dragbrake
if i remember right it was different driving mode setting
and this did make the rig brake full
like 100% dragbrake force at slow speeds

i will double check it next week.

Also what motor you did had?

Higher Turn motors / Less speed will also have stronger hardbrake than fast brushed motors like 12t
Then you can change it with just drag brake setting at max.

Anyways if you use faster motor, you can change this easy with cellphone when you know the other drive mode.
Choose between slow drag brake, och full brake , i have drive both ways in my like i told with same motor 12t

I have had issues 2 times. Need change to factory settings, car will not run before this

ISDT makes great chargers, thats it, ESC are JUNK !

ALSO AVOID THESE CHEAP SLOW CHINESE SERVOS.


there are some good chinese fast servos, you need pay more 50-60 bucks

all these less than 30$ sucks, atleast if you have heavy bed lock 2.2" wheels and like to crawle hard, tough places.
