I something on this last night, looks interesting, it would be nice to leave the batteries connected and not have to worry about any discharge. I would want something more 'positive' holding it in so that it did not fall out from a hard fall, or become momentarily unseated and make the electronics cycle.

Imthatguy said Jonathan from Powershift was picking up his truck from the switch at the KNK TTC and it wasn't coming off. I would imagine something that light attached by magnets that strong wouldn't be popping off unintentionally.

You'd have to roll it off a pretty big cliff to have these magnets come loose. But then again, you wouldn't be driving it away from that sort of thing anyway.

I'd think it would have to take a hard, direct hit to the switch to attempt to knock it out. In which if it is mounted in a proper spot like he demonstrated on the flat bed truck, a direct hit will be pretty hard to do IMO.

Just don't lose the plug...

You'd be surprised the falls I have driven away from.

If nothing else, I would want the block tethered.

$30 for a switch with a scale cover is a little salty, but I like the idea a lot.

That's a lot more expensive than an extra XT60 added on your positive ESC lead. Then you can use much higher than 3S. Boaters route one wire near the hull, put a bulkhead female on the hull, then put a short wire loop on the female side. They simply give it a yank to disconnect the battery.

I know Arrma does this for their ESC's to give people the option to use dual or single batteries. When you use a single, you insert the jumper. If you pull the jumper, the battery is disconnected.

This is how I did it on my bomber. Then over the extra plug I made a 3d printed fire extinguisher and glued them together. So when I remove the fire extinguisher it breaks the positive battery lead.Voodoobrew's MoA Bomber

WTF is the point of a switch? Failure points are great I guess?

For those people not scared of switches I guess.

In over 30 years of RC I've had exactly 1 switch failure and that was this year with Castle's Mamba X ESC.

Scared of a switch? Quite the opposite really. I've had so many switches die while racing I started clipping them off and soldering the leads on all new esc's. I have 1 that has been in use for a couple years only because I like the push button switch on a trackstar 150A but as soon as it gives up it is gone too

Well I use a deans plug on my dead mans switch, not an actual switch. Switches on the ESC may or may not stop all amp draw so I don't use them. Most actual switches are rather large if they are rated to handle the amp draw.

I'm not on FB so... Anyone know when Jon is planning to have more of these available? Amain shows out of stock on all three variations.

My concern is how much resistance this thing adds. It looks like they might have a solid bar in the "battery" that's pulled onto the 2 body contacts rather than passing power thru the magnets' nickle plating...but we won't know til someone else reviews it. Hiding the workings of a $30 part is rather silly IMO.

Exactly, a typical ESC switch just turns off power to the on-board BEC. The power capacitors will still be charged and they still leak power (operational leakage current). It's not much, but a LOT more than a disconnected battery leaks.

I was really intrigued by it since I'm planning on having a Marlin Crawler soon. I want it to be as scale as possible and not have to mess with the screws every time that I need to get inside. Still haven't seen any negative reviews but I see what y'all are saying for sure. I'm cautious but still plan to give it a shot. Wouldn't be the first time I blew $30 on something that didn't work as advertised.
