Default Winch Controller?

So I was given an RC4WD winch and wireless controller by a friend who thought they didn't work and didn't want to bother fixing it. The winch works when plugged directly to a battery, but the controller is fried (gonna use a multimeter to check when i find it ). Given that it is broken, I don't wanna spend more than $20 on a new controller. I am considering making my own with a 3 position (on-off-on) switch and controlling it directly from the car, or buying a cheap winch controller on amazon, linked below. I've never run a winch on one of my rigs so I just wanted to find out if the 3 position switch is usable or if the remote activated one is worth it. Also, are there other options that you know of?

TL;DR Should I use a 3 position switch on the rig or a cheap wireless controller for my winch? something below $20

I normally use Heyok for my wireless winch controllers due to them being very well made and to support the vendors here. That being aid, sometimes money is very tight and I need a less expensive solution. Yeah Racing makes a wireless controller that works pretty well for the price. I like the wireless controllers cause I dotn have to have a better radio to run my winch and the fob easily attaches to my radio.

That looks great thanks for the reply! Just curious, it looks like there is a lead for the battery and one for the winch, and one extra. Is it just two different options for the winch or something different?

there are 2 different connectors for the winch...there are some who use JST connectors for the winch... I just use the factory one included with the winch and either remove the other or tie it up...

Perfect thank you. Maybe I'll run some lights or something from the spare one

I do have a 3rd channel but it's a flysky GT3B radio and the 3rd channel is not a 3 position switch. I looked into the hack kit for that radio but I don't think they are sold anymore

For guys with a two position channel that want to use a winch, I make this part:
Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel

As was already mentioned, I make wireless options too, but they aren't as budget friendly as some of the others that are already in this thread.
