Default Drag brake not holding HW1080 in Trx-4

Noticed the other day my drag brake wasn't holding on an incline. I checked my HW1080 it was still set it at 100% hold. I checked through all the settings. Everything was set correctly. While I was running my rig yesterday I realized that it's still not holding. Is there some way to test the ESC? Is there something else that could be causing this? Still running stock Trx-4 motor/tx/rx. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Is it the trim on your controller?

How old is the motor? Could be worn brushes.

Holmes 550 trail master 21T motor, zero timing so can run in either direction just attach polarity in reverse order...best motor one can get for 20$

How steep is the hill and what gear? In 2nd gear the drag brake will be a fair bit weaker due to the higher gear ratio. My drag brake wont hold me completely still on a hill but its strong enough to slow the rig down to a crawl as opposed to just coasting/freewheeling down.

I have heard it said that the brake setting has an effect on how strong the drag brake is so you might try turning that up too.

I think HumboldtEF has what you need, it's the "Max Braking Force" if I remember correctly. There are 3 brake settings to play with, I just max one at at a time till I figure something on mine

What is the regular brake force set as? If it's set as something like 60% then the drag brake will also be set at 60%
The drag brake setting is a percentage of whatever the regular braking force is set to

I have the same motor and ESC in mines and i have some brass parts on my TRX-4 with a 9t pinion and with how heavy the truck is it won't hold mines in place on steep hills or similar either.

Sorry guys haven't had time to dig into this issue yet. Been spending time with the family. Might get a few mins to look into it this afternoon. I'll keep you up to date when I do.

Mine hold decently, but the Titan 21t magnets are not as strong as the Holmes TrailMaster Sport. From what I have heard that motor has a lot more holding power....never seen that combo in person though. I have the titan and 1080 and I believe my max brake and drag brake are cranked all the way up. I think HumboldtEF nailed it, crank those up and if its still rolling back down. get it back up on that incline and fiddle with your trim knob till it holds better.
