| Dual motor wiring in series
Hopefully someone here can solve my problem. I'm trying to wire dual stock "Return of the Monster" motors in series my clod crawler. I had them wired in parrallel and they worked just fine, except that i had no run time. So i'm ditching the gear reduction units and wiring in series. Heres the problem.....when wired in series, motors don't have the same power output. When I hit forward throttle, the front wheels go nuts with power, but the back just kinda drags along. theres power to the rear wheels, but not enough to push the truck up and over anything. Then if I hit reverse, the problem is reversed...the rear pulls hard, but the front has little power. Does anyone have a cure?? Thanks in advance!!!!!! silvr_tung_devl |

solution, get lathe motors if you can find them. you had no runtime with gear reduction? |

The problem is that your motors have 24 degrees of timing. This means that the motor that is rotating backwards has 24 degrees of retarded timing, which results in significantly less power and efficency. Due to the can design of Trinity stock motors I don't think that it is practical bring the timing of both motors to 0 degrees so that they have equal power forward and reverse. The only real solution is to ditch the motors for another set. Motors that seem to work well are the stock silver cans, Magnetic Mayhems, or, if you can find them, Integy Lathe motors. |

Thanks for the advice....If I go with the lathe motors, will I have to reverse the rotation on one of them?????Also....how hard are they on esc.s????

They have 0 timing so you just reverse the polarity to the rear motor. They are 55t so virtually any ESC can handle them without overheating. You will get very long run times, anywhere from 30-50 minutes. Good luck finding them though. Everyone is sold out. |
