The proprietary plug is a deal breaker for me. I do not want to be restricted to only specific HW motors.

Not sure you'd be able to use another motor with the AXE esc anyway. They are really specifically tuned to each other I think.

Interesting video.

Aside from it being proprietary, I like the sensor cable of the Axe system, its waterproof. That is something that has always bugged me about my Mamba X ESCs, the whole mess is waterproof except for the sensor cable/connections. I bit of dielectric grease pretty much does the trick, but it is messy, attracts dirt, and really is just a sloppy connection. I also like that it has on-board Bluetooth. I have a BlueLink for my Castle gear, and it makes tuning on the bench or on the rocks a lot easier, but it still can be a pain. With all of this, the Castle system is less expensive and I know how to tweak it to my liking.

Its a brushless system, so its not like the motors will be wearing out any time soon, I have no problem with the proprietary plugs as I would just keep them married if I wanted a different motor I would just swap the motor and esc together. Having seen this run in person, I want one. It can easily go as slow as my crawlmaster 550 on a ble pro, and bogs down less at those low speeds. On top of that it made virtualy no noise compared to the BLE pro in dithered mode.
It lacks the power of the mamba x but I usually tune my rigs to perform like this because I don't want that parts breaking snappy power off the line, I want a slower and smoother more realistic take off.

I think it's absolutely silly that people are complaining about a proprietary plug. Who else makes a waterproof sensor cable?

You have me confused. That Holmes sensor wire gets rid of the stupid "harness" on the Castle X series ESCs. Not sure how that is related to the waterproof sensor wire on the AXE.

Yeah he's talking about taking the Castle X ESC harness + sensor wire and turning it into one cable. Getting rid of any connectors is pretty much always a good thing in electronics, especially when talking about water resistance.

Still not as good as the AXE's waterproof cable.

Castle's proprietary harness is stupid and shouldn't exist. At least the AXE's proprietary connector is for a reason.
