Naaaaa onboard footage don't work with all the shaking even in our very slow vehicles.
You can get fairly decent recordings if you drive extremely slow and stay awaay from the rough stuff ( with a scaler )

ATM i only know of 2 possible and small solutions that i assume would be usable.


1: the Gitup F1 that are like a gopro 5-6 and have EIS for 1080p shooting.

2: the new Dji osmo pocket, but you do not want to roll your car with that little gimbal, but say for recording your trail drive, you can do stunning 4k/60 stabilized footage i am sure.

You could always overshoot in 4k with wide angle lense and let some good image stab software hack the edges to give a view that doesn't make one sea-sick.

Or get one of the gimbals used on drones like a Storm32. They're big but offer some intense stabilization.
