Default ESS Dual+ : manual switch for aux channel

I just bought an ESS Dual+ for my TRX4, since I don't want to change the transmitter yet and I'd like to use the aux channel for horn sounds, is there a way to wire a switch on the model itself?
Would a simple momentary switch connected to aux and + work, as it does on the cheap Aliexpress light kit?

thanks

Pablo

I do not believe that will work. That aux channel is looking for a digital signal from the receiver, the same as a servo or ESC. Your best bet is to get a HEYOK or RC4WD winch or lighting remote to control that ESS aux channel.

Would I risk frying something if I try?

Yes. Again, the ESS is looking for a digital signal, and not a short to high or low. If you short the signal wire to ground you might shut down the ESS, or it might be protected. Shorting the signal to the signal wire will likely fry something, or, at the very least, confuse it. Shorting the high and low will short your BEC, if you are lucky the BEC will have some sort of protect and shut itself down before damage is done. If not, you'll likely fry your BEC, if you are using the BEC internal to your ESC, then that is likely fried too.

With that, I might be all wet and it will work just fine shorting the wires. If you try it, let us know what happened.

It will have no clue what's going on if you just short the white wire/pin to ground, and at worst burn the microcontroller by feeding it over 5.0 volts. If it survived, you'd have to press the button for PRECISELY 2 milliseconds or 1 milliseconds (1/500 or 1/1000 sec) to start the sound, then again for exactly 1.5 milliseconds to end it. That's well beyond any human's ability.
