Servo temp???
 

So was just missin around with the truck(indoors),so when i was done,i went to touch the servo, it was warm to the touch, that was odd to me, 10 to 15mins of play time and the servo was warm, is that a bad sign ?

Is there a temp for the servo not to go over, before it stops working ?
Its a JX HV coreless servo if that helps.

JX servos are knockoffs, probably normal for them to get hot, try a shorter steering arm. probably 150f is fine.

It's like gear reduction, it increases the torque but reduces max steering travel. Depending in your radio you can get that throw back by increasing the steering travel to 150%

Check your EPA. If it is bottoming out then it can cause heat.

Have checked epa,and set them up properly.

After reading what Natedog said about the boom steering arm, does the steering arm need to be fowrad on the servo rather than backwards, i just bought a chassis servo mount for my rig and my arm is facing backwards, can that be why its getting warm , or it doesn't really matter which way the arm sits ?

Electronics only get warm if there is more current passing through it then it is designed to dissipate. Let's assume it was designed properly, that means somehow more work is occurring. You are left with little options on what that might be.


I would start with the screw attaching the arm, make sure it isnt too long causing some type of binding. Then I would recheck the EPA, because its easy and well shyte happens. After that I would removed the steering linkage. Check the rod ends, I have loctited them fast before. Run the servo with no load, see if it gets warm. Cycle the steering by hand, see if there is a bind, put a long screw in the rod end so you can feel if thats the bind.


Once all those are done I would put it back together, cycle it and check the heat. If there was still heat, I would hold the tires and burn that b1tch up because I could. Then take it apart only to find a bound up gear and be pissed for not checking on that too.



No the arm movement doesnt mater.
