Default New Tekin Brushed ESC - BXR

Saw this on Amain's new products section but nowhere else. Tekin doesn't have it on their site or social media but it appears to be a next generation FXR.

https://www.amainhobbies.com/tekin-b...tt1094/p885151

Good stuff:

- Tiny and light, about 50% smaller than the ever popular Hobbywing 1080
- On the fly drag brake adjustment from the transmitter (similar to Castle X ESCs)
- Fully waterproof
- Solder posts for replacing wires

Not so good:

- Internal BEC fixed 5V and 3.7A, this is pretty much meant to run with an external BEC
- 30T motor limit on 3S feels a bit low

It's not a direct FXR replacement, it's just a super small, waterproof offering for small tire trucks like the CR12, RC4WD minis and 1.55/1.9 small rigs. For how small it is I am pretty impressed with it!

Perfect for rigs with full interiors and fancy motor forward setups with next to no space for electronics

So no 21t 550-sized cans then?

Gotta buy the HotWire separate, too...

Would be sweet for that someday-down-the-road Suzuki-bodied MST truly-tiny-tired rig I've been promising myself, tho'.

If you mean a super high throttle frequency, it is preset from the factory and very smooth and quiet as it is.

Also notice we have a typo on the BEC rating, it is 6V 3.7A, not 5V.

i really dig the sound of this. do we have a PRICE that's smaller than the ever-popular HW 1080?

but yeah its fairly priced for the features and smaller footprint. nice work Tekin!

Thank you for clarify all these. Especially about the build in BEC was actually in 6V 3.7A not the one we saw on Amain web store.

Also big bonus for Drag brake adjust with your radio

I wonder if you could use this in a bomber and tie it into the transmission shifting servo, so when you change gears it would change the brake settings similar to how the Mamba x does.

The way I understand Tekin's adjustable drag brake system, it is not like the Castle system that switches between values at preset points in a range.

Tekin's system adjusts the drag brake in small increments (5%, 10%, not sure exactly how much each step is) every time the AUX channel is moved from 0% to +/-100% and back to 0%. It is similar to making the adjustment from the buttons on the controller, just from the radio.

Plus, the BRX isn't meant for large, heavy trucks like the Bomber. You would want a RX4 (which has the same drag brake adjustment capabilities with the latest firmware) for that.

So to understand this, this esc is for real light rigs ?

Nothing heavier than a rig that has 2.2s?

So would this esc be good for a axial or hpi venture rtr with tekin hd35t motor. Ordered esc without noticing it was for smaller rigs.
Better to sell an put in hw1080?

Are we ever getting a version of the BXR that can handle heavier rigs and more power? The motor count is fine for me, but I want to put one in the TRX-4.

I'd put the 1080 in it. The 1080 has a good BEC and it'll run the Venture on any motor with any battery, within reason.

Do you think this would be a good fit on the new 1.9 wraith? it's such a light truck, but has 4.7-ish tires...

The one spec that stood out to me is on 3S its limited to 30T which is probably just fine. I'm just not used to having a limited turn count with an aftermarket ESC. It would be nice to see what weight range is recommended since its intended for small tire rigs and minis.

I will say I am very interested! What's funny is they note that it needs an external BEC for high torque servos. AFAIK Tekin still does not offer an external BEC. So it's almost like they're recommending business with a direct competitor?

Its possible this could work though you'd likely be on the limit or just over the limit. The 30T limit is for a 3 slot motor and the 12T motors from Holmes are all 5 slots which roughly equate to a 27T- 35T. 550's are also a touch slower, I'm not sure if that works in your favor or if the larger sized means more load on the ESC.

Typically those limits don't apply to crawlers because we run more gear reduction and don't push the motors as hard. Should be fine unless 30t was specifically stated for crawlers.
