The Brood motor is the best of the bunch if you mind spending the extra money. The Hackmoto motors are about as cheap as you can make an open endbell motor but they generally work well enough. They can be rough out of the box some give them some time to break in the brushes. The RC4WD motors are either the super cheap closed endbell ones or the rebuildable ones that are the same as the Hackmoto for 3X the price. Either way you can do better. Not knowing the buying options where you live, consider the Holmes Trailmaster brushed motors if you can get them. They are a relatively inexpensive sealed can motor but Holmes specs better magnets and a bearing on the output side of the motor shaft compared to most sealed can motors. |

I would never recomend any motor as slow as a 45t unless there is absolutely no way to gear down for the speed you want. I would go 48p gears and 9t pinions and a faster motor.

35T or even 30T is what I use. 3s and more wheelspeed without needing 2 speed transmission. It's all I need. As for motors, buy a good quality rebuildable motor. Holmes or Tekin are my preference, but plenty of others about.

At least 35T. Never goes beyond 35T. You could run smallest pinion to archive scale speed.

Can you reverse the rotation on these motors for the TRX-4?

For brushed motors at zero timing just swap the wires. For rebuild able motors you can rotate the end ell 180 degrees.

The esc can reverse the direction as well but it can't adjust the timing.

Yes, you can reverse almost any brushed motor just by inverting the polarity on the wires

I would suggest Holmes Hobbie motors. i have the 12 turn and the 21 turn and geared down with smaller pinion and it works great and quality motors.

I recently bought a GoolRC 27t and an Austar 55t. Both are working great and they're about $10 each only. Both having replaceable brush, bearings at each end and timing can be adjusted.
