| Portable/travel charging setup
I'm thinking about running 4 gauge cable, from my vehicle battery, to the cargo area to connect my 800W inverter, for battery charging, or other electrical accessories. Got me wondering what other unique, or efficient charging setups were out there for travelling, or going to events. Sent from my SM-J727V using Tapatalk |

My 4runner has a 400W 115V outlet in the cargo area from the factory, so I just use my Hitec X4AC plus plugged into that. It works great just need to idle the 4runner while I charge.

My dodge has the 110 plug on the dash. But I could see where having a charging port somewhere in the bed would be nice.

I use a cheap plug in inverter along with my ac charger. It's easy to size. All my batteries are 3S 2200mah and I only charge at 1C. (12.6*2.2)*1.20 = 33.26 A 35 watt inverter would suffice, I got an 85w for 10 bucks on sale, works great. Could do 2C with it if I had too with no issues. |

My ProTek RC charger runs off of AC or 12V DC, so no need to convert DC to AC back to DC. I like it, since I can connect directly to my vehicle battery or travel trailer battery. No need to worry about blowing any fuses. My truck has an AC plug in the cab, but it is only rated for 1.25A. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's exactly what I was planning to do with my Forester, I would prefer charging in the cargo area where I am wrenching or have my staging table setup this way I don't need to keep the hood open. I would suggest a fuse of course. I will most likely put the system on a relay and switch and fuse block so I can expand later | |
