I have a crawler with 55t motors. I swapped them for 27 t motors. How many teeth do I have to take off the pinion to make the 27 t preform the same as the 55 t?

My guess would be... cut it by half. Even if you get the same wheel speed, the 27t should give a nice bump in power/peak wattage, and a lot smoother startup (when geared for the same top speed.) |

Holmes lists their 27t torquemaster 540 as equivalent to 2200kv. Their 55t torquemaster 540 they list as equivalent to 1000kv. Hope that helps.

If you want it to perform the same you should get another 55T motor. Even if you cut the gearing in half you will be stuck with more torque and power...
