Default Servo winch on Spektrum DX5c

Hi all, I would like to control a servo winch with my spektrum dx5c and 6000 receiver. How have you set this up? Using aux channels 1,2,3 for diffs and gear. Aux4?

I've been having issues using my DX5C with a winch. My fourth channel automatically sets to either in or out once I plug in my battery then functions as normal when the reciever is turned on. Even if it's just for half a second, it will still spool. I've tried setting the failsafe to a neutral position and it does nothing. Tried switching to my 3rd channel and it works perfectly fine. I think there might be something up with my transmitter.

My setting for 1-3 is steering, throttle, and dig.

My issue is that I can’t assign aux4. Have the 6000 receiver. Or am I using up all 5 channels allready?

I don't have an avc reciever so maybe you have to disable that first?

I did that indeed, that cleared up channels 2,3

Have you tried setting it up on 5? Maybe try moving one of the diffs to 4 and the winch to one channel that you know works? What exactly is happening when you try to set it up?

The winch works on aux2. I can’t assign aux4 to a switch

But conclusion is that I’m missing a channel. Will free up one by trying to yharness the diffs (with a servo signal reverse in that case).

You can't use Aux 4 with the DX5C. The DX5C is only 5ch, which gives you 3 controllable Aux channels.

You could also try leaving the rear locked 24/7, that'll free up a channel and you'll hardly notice the difference on the trail.

Yup...

Ch1: Steering
Ch2: Throttle
Ch3 (AUX1): Winch
Ch4 (AUX2): Transmission
Ch5 (AUX3): Differential locks

Given that its a 5-channel radio, Ch6/Aux4, will not work. The RX is the same one used in the DX6R, and it will work with that radio.

To get the differential locks to work on one channel you need a Traxxas T-Lock module.

When assigning switches, go to your trim settings and see what switches the steering and throttle trims are already assigned to, and resign them if you want to use the switches they are on.

The problem I was having is that the 4th channel on mine was not setting a proper failsafe. So it would just wind my winch non stop. No matter what I tried that 4th channel was acting up. Switch my dig to that channel and it did the same thing with the servo.

Correct, as the DX5C is only 5 ch. It can not control the 4th Aux channel.

I'm confused by this because once my transmitter is on the winch functions as normal. If I ugh my battery in, the winch automatically starts spooling. Once it connected to the transmitter it stops and works normally

Yes, once the radio is linked it should stop, but you're not going to be able to set a failsafe with the DX5C because of it only being a 5ch.

One of the oldest rules in RC...

Transmitter on first, then turn on the RC.

Turn off the RC, then turn off the transmitter.

I only have 3 things connected. My setup is:

Steering ch1
Throttle ch2
Dig ch3

DX5C with 4ch sr415. So that last channel isn't usable? What's the point in a 4th channel if it can't be used?

I know this, but even just that 1 -2 seconds before it binds with the transmitter it's spooling my winch that's already wound tight.
