3s vs 2s
 

I'm considering upgrading my systems to 3s. I run class 1 and 2. What do you guys think, is it worth?

This seems to be the case with myself and everyone else I've ever seen or read about going from 2s to 3s.
In my case I went to 3s and I kept my old 2s packs and made an adapter to run them as 4S for those times I want even more.

While any 4 cylinder 1:1 car can get you to work, it's more fun to drive a v8 isn't it?
That's the basic difference, even if both cars are only allowed to go 60mph the v8 does it faster with more power and torque. that's 2s, vs 3s in a nutshell.

I'm happy you tried the 3s after taking the 2s stand BTW. It's good to be open to other people's ideas."thumbsup"

Basically going from 2s to 3s you get 33% more power from your motor then what you have now. You can't get that from changing motor turns but it doesn't stop people from trying. Best motor upgrade you can do is more voltage...
after 3s-4s the brushes start to wear kinda quick though.

I went from 2s to 3s and won't go back. Like Voodoo said, you get more power, which gives you more speed. With that, you can now gear down back to the top speed you were at before, and use all that low ratio for greatly improved startup and low speed control, all while not sacrificing wheel speed or top speed.

I put the 2s in for when I let other people run them, little bit easier for a novice to control them when they are slower and less power to break things. Of course when my 2s go bad I won't be replacing them, unless I make a series battery adapter to run them at 4s.

My motto is volt up, gear down for a reason. Many good reasons. Do it and you will probably like it.

Ok, you guys got me convinced. Now, I'm in doubt: should I get for my heavy G2 a 540 5 slot 16T motor, or a 550 non rebuildable can?

Btw, do I need to have an external bec for my 6v servo to run 3s?

The 550 trailmaster 21t is one of my favorites. Pretty sure the bigger motor will beat out a smaller motor every time. But I could be wrong. Price vs performance tho, nothing beats the HH 21t trailmaster 550.

Agreed. I run a 21t 550 in 3 rigs,. It just feels good for a brushed set up to me

Depends on your esc and servo. Generally it dosent matter because the esc has an internal bec that reduces the voltage to 6v or 7.2v so the servo has no idea you upgraded to 3s.
