TRX4 and Traxxas BEC - where to mount? Just got a new Blazer TRX4 and a Traxxas #2260 BEC for 3s and it doesn't seem to fit too well inside the recieved box. Instructions say mount on chassis. But where would be the best place? |
Re: TRX4 and Traxxas BEC - where to mount? In the 2262 Set is an larger receiver cover. maybe you can buy the cover alone. |
Re: TRX4 and Traxxas BEC - where to mount? Don't get me wrong, I love the TRX4 (I have five of them) but the Traxxas electronics not so much. So I cringe when someone says that they want to install a Traxxas BEC or Traxxas high torque servo. Unfortunately the Traxxas 2260 BEC does not gain you very much for $45. It is rated at only 3a @ 6v and is non-adjustable. A MUCH better option for a BEC is the Castle Creations 10A which is rated at 10a adjustable voltage for about $21 or the HeyOK No Brainer BEC w/adjustable voltage for $30 or the best option, IMO, is to install a HobbyWing QuickRun WP1080 ESC which features an internal BEC with 3a adjustable 6 or 7.4v output plus MUCH smoother motor control all for $41. All I'm saying is there are so many better options out there than the Traxxas electronics generally for less money. |
Re: TRX4 and Traxxas BEC - where to mount? ^^^ What he said - if at all possible, return the Traxxas BEC to where you bought it - HW1080 ESC all the way - works great in tandem with stock motor and then later swap that motor out for the excellent Holmes Hobbies TrailMaster Sport 550 21t at around $21 for even more fun. If you need a cheap but better than stock servo pick up a DS3218 or DS3218 Pro on Amazon or fleaBay for $17-$21 and you're off to the races, my friend. |
Re: TRX4 and Traxxas BEC - where to mount? Those two have a good point, If it's not too late I would return the traxxas bec. If it is too late, personally I use hot glue to mount a bunch of stuff pretty much anywhere i please. It hold pretty good but you can still give it a good tug to get it to come off pretty cleanly. I use the lower heat $5 gun from wallymart, works like a champ and so far hasn't set my house on fire. I imagine for $45 it comes waterproof already right? |
