Default Son went swimming with Crawler

My son went swimming with his HSP RGT 1/10 Crawler, and now the motor doesn't work. The Electronics are supposed to be waterproof. The steering still works, but the motor does not move. I removed it from its mounts to confirm and it does not move. Going to wait a little bit and see if it drys out, but what should I replace it with?

Not looking to break the bank, he is only 5. It has stock the RC390 Warhead motor. Tons to choose from online. Looking for a basic replacement, willing to splurge a little bit to be waterproof.

Going to go test the lines that lead to the motor to make sure the ESC is still sending power.

Thanks

The ESC and Speed control seem fine. I get a consistent 7.6 volts.

Sounds like you might be a candidate for a Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Sport 540 for $20. BTW, there is no such thing as a "waterproof" motor. Even a sealed brushless motor can suffer water ingress.

If you're lucky you might just have some grit in the motor thats locking it up (I assume its a brushed motor). You could try blowing it clean with compressed air. I also had a friends motor lock up once and all I did was grab and turn a wheel (which spins the motor) and whatever was inside freed up after.

Brushed motors dont really care about water BTW but if its siting water it will lead to corrosion and it will not like that, general rule (for brushed motors) is to clean it out with water or electric parts cleaner, dry it and then re-lube the bearings or bushings on the ends.

He'd need a 390-sized can as a replacement. An ECX Barrage motor would be an easy find...

I accidentally ordered the wrong size motor. Just for a reference a 540 does not fit in place of a 390. I have ordered a Hosim 390 Motor and a Hobbywing HWI30120201 Quicrun 1060 Brushed ESC.

Another swing and a miss.

I dont know if the motor I ordered is really a 390 or not as advertised, because it is way bigger than the stock motor. I just ordered a replacement from an RC chop shop on eBay.

Barrage motor will fit and a better motor than what comes in the rgt rigs of the same.

Little update on this situation. The motor I ended up getting and making fit is a 390 but it was from a newer Rgt crawler. I was able to slide it in after I modified the motor mount to accept it.
