ESC for winch controller? I have this idea in my head that I think would work but I wanted to ask you guys. You have a mamba x on 4s to run the motor and servo. You wire a bec to a second tiny brushed esc at 7.4v for power (pos/neg leads) only. You run the tiny esc to open channel on receiver for signal only. The ESC is connected to a winch servo motor. This way on the radio you could make the switch stepped and have control of the speed of winching. Would this work or am I crazy? A winch controller is $30-50. A hobbywing brushed is like $18. Thank you kind wizards for sharing your knowledge. |
Re: ESC for winch controller? I plugged a hobbywing 1060 into CH3 on the RX and wired the output to the motor one a servo winch and assigned a 3 position switch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: ESC for winch controller? Yes, that's what I did with an old 1040 ESC for my winch. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |
Re: ESC for winch controller? Yep the 1060 is perfect. By setting EP on that channel, you can limit output voltage. I run my 1060 on 3s, winch is at 6v Hang up and Drive |
Re: ESC for winch controller? I run a decased fxr as a winch controller on my class 3. Works fantastic. |
Re: ESC for winch controller? i have a micro esc 20a it was $5 i glued it to the back of my bec and waterproofed it its smaller than the bec and it lifts a 20lb rig kinda slow but im only running 6v to the esc im thinking of decasing a cheap high voltage esc to run 3s to the winch but i dont realy ever use it so im not sure i want to spend the $10 |
Re: ESC for winch controller? This is a great micro esc for a winch controller, check out the voltage! Robot Power Products - Wasp "thumbsup" Ernie |
