Default Holmes Hobbies

I plan to put a Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro BL 540 XL + Mamba X ESC into my TRX4 Sport.

is this insane?

The XL dosen't have the smooth startup for crawling
This is not the best choice.
You want a puller pro standard I think

startup won't be the smoothest, but it won't be terrible if we compare to most motors. It's a beast though!

I have a 2200kv and a mamba max on a 9t pinion, on 6s it does wheelies and after about 5 minutes I wore the trailer hitch mount off the rear bumper. The startup in first gear is pretty impressive IMO. https://youtu.be/N1F8w_xYG6Y

It's not insane at all if it's what you want your truck to be! You can always use Castle Link to fine tune your throttle/brake curves for more refinement. John Holmes has outstanding videos on how to optimize your ESC settings which will help you get the most out of what you have.

Could you provide any advice for tuning through the mamba x esc? it'd be the first time ill be running a setup like this

3s and a holmes hobbies employee by the name of jeff said i could even run 4s if i wanted but recommended not running anything higher
