I got a few runs on my crawlmaster sport 21t 550 with the hw1080. I love this set up. It’s super smooth. Slow speed is great. It’s just as smooth as my brushless set ups but with better drag brake. Thanks!!!

I am contemplating using a Crawlmaster Sport 540 13T in my rig based on the VS4-10 chassis kit with TRX-4 axles. I'll be running the VFD Transmission in this rig as well. Will the CM Sport bolt up properly with the VP motor plate that is used with the VFD Transmission?

I called Vanquish, and they say they only tested Tekin brushed motors to mount up properly with the motor plate that is included with the VFD trans. They say some lower-end /sealed-can brushed motors won't clear the hole in their motor plate. That little "nub" on the end of the motor is too large.

I ran into this issue on my other rig which was equipped with a Vanquish 3-Gear trans (using all Vanquish parts for the VS4-10 Origin). I tried to mount a Trailmaster Sport 550 21T motor, and it wouldn't clear the hole in the VP motor plate. The hole in the VFD motor plate appears to be about the same size as the one in their 3-Gear Trans, but I'm not sure about the little nub on the HH CM Sport motor.

You will likely need to open up the hole in your motor plate a smidge.

I know this isn't the thread for it but performance wise I think the toyzuki vs4-10 motor mount is better.

The toyzuki one is however not as sexy or easy to install.

Building an SSD Trail King (1.9) and trying to decide on what 550 motor. Seems like with a 1080 this 12t 550 would be the ticket? Any input would be appreciated.

I love that motor and think I have finally settled on it in an Element after the stock Reedy16T and a 16T Holmes Expert 540...The 550 can works for me better...super tractable and just as happy to run 2/3/4S with just a little more trigger modulation and some time with the program card.

Edit: I took my camera phone out just now to show some waaay subpar video of this motor for wheel speed on 2/3/ and 4S Lipo juice, here:

Crawlmaster Sport 550 12T 2S/3S/4S wheel speed video examples.

I finally had a chance to run my Enduro kit with the 15t 550. I love it. My only complaint is that I don't have enough wheel speed. I definitely should have gone with the 12t. The top speed of my Enduro on 3S is slower than my Gen8 on 2S.

I guess I'll have to get a 12t too.

I got the 550 12T up and running in my SCX10.2 crawler, this thing rips! So much smoooooth torque throughout the revs. I love the combination of low end control and instant wheelspeed on demand when I need it. Thanks for the advice John!

Hi guys,

SCX10.2 chassis, with a chinese cheap 35T.

What i want is have more wheels speed and same torque as 35T.

On paper 540 13t has more KV than 550 12t. So what i should choose to fulfill my needs?

Depends what you want out of it. I have a 13t pinion in mine with the stock 56t spur gear

I have a Trailmaster Sport 21 turn 550 in my Axial UMG10 with the stock gearing (whatever it is). Motor has lots of torque and available wheel speed on 3s with no motor or esc heat issues whatsoever. Fantastic inexpensive motor.
