Default Servo servicing

So, I have killed multiple servoes up until now, but a few of them have burnt electronics, busted gears, or loose pinion (didn't know that could happen, but it did today). I was thinking of switching faulty parts of different servos to make a franken-servo. So far, no success. Whatever I do.. the servo works weird. Mostly not working. The strangest thing happened today.. So I got a free spinning pinion on my servo motor. It's just turning the axle, not moving the gears. I took a very similar servo, with the same size motor, and just soldered the good motor in place of the free spinning one. It was a 5 minute job.. but it doesn't work. When I put the servo together and plug it in... my winch starts spinning, and the steering doesn't work. Like the servo mixes up the channels. Have no clue why...Do you have any ideas why those swaps don't work??

End Points, End Points, End Points!!!

If not set properly, all of the above can and will happen.

I'm not exactly sure, but maybe the servo electronics are faulty and making the receiver stop working properly when you plug it in.

Yes, end-point adjustment is critical in order to keep your servos alive!
If your transmitter doesn't include them, maybe one of these will help you:
