Default Hw1080 with hh crawlmaster sport 550 12t on 3s?

Reading the specs on the 1080 >16t motor on 3s

Has anyone been running crawlmaster sport 550 12t 1700kv on 3s?

Yes, I bought a 12t 550 crawlmaster sport for my neighbor and he's been running it on a wp1080 and 3s exclusively. No issues at all, smoothest cheap motor I've run. I believe all the turn limits on esc's are generally assuming it's a 3 slot anyway.

Yeah turn limits are for 3-slot motors
You can run the 5-slot on it as well
I think it's about X2 for the turn numbers of a 5-slot to a 3-slot ratio?

Thanks I figured it would be ok not unhappy with 2s. Just thought I would throw in a 3s to see how the slow speed crawling is

I run the 550 10t cm on 3s, no problem, just watch the gearing.

[QUOTE=Voodoobrew;5979060]I run the 550 10t cm on 3s, no problem, just watch the gearing.

Can you further explain "just watch the gearing"? Is that meant in regard to heat?

I'm a noob building a TRX4 Sport using a CM 15t on 3S w/ 9/45 gearing. Looking for really good low speed control over speed on trail runs.

Yes, if the pinion is to big it can over heat. If the motor gets too hot to touch for more then 3 seconds get a smaller pinion.

Well too hot to touch for more then 3 seconds is hotter then recommended but probably won't cause damage right away

Well if you have a 9t pinion you probably won't have heat issues on a trx-#
