Default Accidentally ran LIPO battery on NiMH mode

My hpi venture ESC has a jumper to switch between LIPO and NIMH battery. I ran a lipo for about 30-60min on NiMH mode.

What could be some potential consequences of doing this? overheating wires?

p.s. lipo is awesome

The jumper is just to tell the ESC what type of battery you're using so it can set the proper low voltage cut off. If you haven't drained your lipo battery below safe levels while in NIMH mode you'll be fine

To find out you'll have to check your cell voltage to see how low they got. The only danger is going too low, ideally not below 3.00v per cell. Going below this can damage the battery. Your charger hopefully has a display for the per cell charge. You can also find battery little checkers https://www.amainhobbies.com/search?s=battery+checker
I use the iSDT checker and its pretty nice though a bit overkill (can balance a battery using the battery to power the unit)

Over-discharging a LiPo battery will shorten its lifespan, but if you only did it once and you recharged the battery to ~50% charge shortly afterwards, you will probably never notice the difference. The damage from a single over-discharging event will get lost in the statistical noise of normal variations in battery lifespan.

Also, I should mention that lithium-ion batteries of all types lose capacity over time even when treated perfectly, and they lose capacity faster any time their charge is above or below 3.6v per cell (including when you've just charged the battery so you can actually use it), so it's impossible to keep a lithium-ion battery working well forever anyway. They are unfortunately consumable products and there is no way to avoid that -- even putting it on a marble pedestal and admiring it from a polite distance won't preserve its capacity indefinitely.
