1/8 Brushless Motor Question
 

I have the opportunity to get this motor for what I would call a decent price (much less that the MSRP), in either 1700Kv, or 1900Kv. Tenshock X812L

I am willing to be a guinea pig, per se, and try something that is not the norm.

If this looks like a decent motor, which Kv rating would be better for a big, heavy rig? (1700Kv, or 1900Kv)

Feel free to tell me I am better off getting a Tekin T8, or Holmes Puller Pro 4274 as well. Just looking at other options for my home brew X(E)-Factor build.

In regard to weight, I suspect it'll end up somewhere between 12-16 lbs (possibly more)

For batteries, if that matters, I have 5200mha in 2S and 4500mah in 3S.

i dont know the over all size of that motor but my hd8 1/8 motor just bearly fit the wraith transmission i had to change the pinnion and sper gears to get good gear mesh because the motor had no room for adjustment it also interfered with the link mounts on the wraith
i dont know what rig your running it on but i would exspect a fight getting that large of a motor to fit but the torque would be unreal

I’m going to be running it on a Summit transmission, in a custom built.

Hoping to have a pretty open platform to build on. It’ll be a stretched X-Factor chassis.

One of the reasons I was thinking a low(ish) Kv rating, is because it will be running a 7-1/2” to 8-1/2” tall tires in a pretty heavy rig. I’m not looking for any real speed, just enough power to get the rig moving and not be a complete dog :lmao:

There is always the classic Castle 1515 2200kv motor but those seem to be out of stock everywhere. One of those throws my 18lb Savage Flux XL around like its nothing.

I have read about people being happy with these Hobbystar motors in large scale bashers:

For a large, heavy truck, I would be more concerned with the motor size than KV. A lower KV motor doesn't make more torque but a longer can does which will move a heavy truck easier. A 40x74mm motor in the 1800-2000kv range on 4s would be a pretty flexible setup.

i like the 2200 kv still blaizinh fast ive had the yeti xl close to 60mph with half throtle on 6s the lower the kv the higher the voltage

Okay, talk about a RABBIT HOLE :lmao:

There are a lot of options to think about. I am waiting on some information back from RC Juice on the HobbyStar motors. I think here are lots of good choices, that are affordable, sensored and non-sensored, from HobbyStar and TenShock.

As said before, I probably do not need sensored for a big rig like this, which really opens up the options.
